Ok...

No stampede, everyone take a breath, calm calm... I know this miracle cable would save all of us , but tell me this... Would this switch between cable not sell out like matches at an eskimo convention.

If RED don't make it, I bet someone will pretty quickly once this thread goes off.

But for now...putting it out there to any wiring genius, if you can make this, I will pay you right now ! This instant, and fund the lot for instant production.

I had one of those days were I was swapping between LCD and EVF all fricken day, and almost had a tantrum.
So once again, anyone out there wanting to make this up for me, Email or PM me ASAP.

Hands up everyone that would want this in their kit.

PS.. I'd prefer an original off the shelf RED VERSION myself - hint hint.. Jarred. I'll invest mate. i'll put my money where my mouth is, just say the word.

+1 module not an option for you?

RED VOLT eater... with two screens going at once.
And I don't use both monitors at the same time...
And I don't want my camera to grow anymore in size, As I love it small.

What about a tiny A/B LEMO box? I know that would create more cable but might be the easier solution. Not sure if thats engineerable.

Talking to people right now... exactly what your talkng about. Love RED USER for this.

I was thinking the same thing - hard to make tiny though, and also the hardest thing would be the switch ironically! Basically it needs to be "break before make" for safety, and have enough poles for all the necessary wires of the cable, which is quite a few. In the end, it may need to be an electronic switch which makes it less simple.

Would definitely buy one at the right price though!

A custom sliding switch with two mating pcbs is simplest. Nicest method would be to make that in a rotary action cylindrical housing - twist action to change over.

Darn it... wishful thinking.

John, are you talking about the cost of manufacturing or the final retail cost? The +1 module adapter is the only available solution but it comes with added bulk. I might be in the minority but I have no issues with paying for this cable. OH's HotLink is a great example of added functionality with minimal bulk.

We should do a poll... who wants one and how much would you pay?

Exactly what I need.

Exactly what I need.

I spent all yesterday switching back and forth between EVF and LCD. Not only is it a big waste of time, but it makes me worry about unneeded wear and tear on the cable and connections. This would be perfect as I too would like to keep my setup light.

Hell yeah,

This would be amazing. It is a shame you cant just have a simple splitter/barrel like you would with BNC or XLR and be able to run both simultaneously.
I know in my water housings I have to choose between EVF or LCD and its not always that simple to know which will work best. EVF if there is a lot of glare and LCD if i am in surf zone and dont want my nose to be broken!
I often then have to use a 3rd party monitor to be able to have EVF and an LCD.

Someone make this badboy!

WC started selling EVF/LCD cables a while ago, maybe they could order in quantities that would make the price viable?

I can't think of a reason that it *wouldn't* work...

So you like the small form factor and that little battery inside the side handle that never charges to the max and hardly lasts???
How about this for a project then, how about a newly designed Redvolt (V2) that can power the camera, oh I don't know... how about an hour, and actually charges fully and not sixty percent. I will invest in that! And Mark, that cable is a killer idea.
