They told me that they shot at 60fps. The camera operator is telling me that when he exports from red rushes it plays back at real time, when i export from metafuze and import into avid MC everything is in slow motion. can i fix this? thanks -c

Play it back at double speed? Just an idea. If I understand correctly you've shot at 60fps to export the final at 30fps? I'm pretty sure you can just double the speed and it'll play normal.

i need to multicam.. i want everything to go into the avid at regular speed not slow motion. this camera guy is telling me that redrushes automatically exports it at regular speed and that it does not make files that are in slow motion.. personally i think this dude is full of it, but i am curious. if everything is slow mo, than i cant multicam to a song, and im on the verge of just declining the job. thank you

Ah, that does make it a bit tricky. I don't know avid very well. But "regular" speed for that clip IS "slow mo". If you want it to play back so everything LOOKS normal, I still think you could double the speed before you make it a multiclip, then slow it back down again after the edits if need be. It's also possible to changes to project settings. Like I said I don't know avid too well so I can't give specifics.

There is no 60p project type for the transcode in MetaFuze so the play rate of the project type will change the record speed. Can you try REDCINE to see what happens?

To the OP... I'm a 16 year Avid veteran so I hope you consider me suitably qualified to help out.

Your camera op has shot at 60fps which is slow motion in Avid land. Many music clips are shot this way with the artist miming on set to a x2 speed soundtrack. This gives the slo-mo look while maintaining lip-sync. Sorry if you already know that....

Your camera op is correct in saying that Red Rushes will export 'regular speed'. Regular speed in this case is slow motion.

All you need to do is speed your clips up by 200% and then group the newly created clips and start cutting. Don't ditch the job just because it requires a little bit of education. Use it as an opportunity to expand your skill set. However, if you do decide it's too much trouble, feel free to send the job my way.

well I'm glad I could finally be of some help. It makes much more sense coming from an AVID vet.:biggrinjester:
