Isn't the moral of that story to stay away from scorpions?

Scorpions, by nature only attack food or sting for self-defense. The frog obviously did something to the Scorpion in the middle of the river to cause the Scorpion to take such drastic action. I'm guessing it was something offensive to cause such a tail-jerk reaction.
