  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Everything changes...

Free cameras for everyone???

Brad, free ( or almost free) cameras were announced when Epic- X started. This time (looking at Jim's passion in those threads lately) it will be something monumental.

...

Now... put your helmets on and expect more change. Like the scorpion... it is our nature.

Jim
First time I remember Jim using the Scorpion reference.

If the competition means Canon, they already have an interchangeable S35 5K camera on the market : its called RED EPIC S35 with the Canon mount ... :)

I hope these changes, Jim, imply pricing going back to were they were intended at the first place for Epic X? Is the price still expected to rise at the end of the year? Will we, the current non Red owners, be able to get any form of interchangeable S35 RED camera ( M and RED ONE don't count, but include X) until the end of the year?

As much as I would like change, I'm sure what I'm getting for the Scarlet will not be at the same level as the EPIC X- different price points, different features. I might as well bite the bullet and go for the big boy right now. Its a fairly big risk, I'm sure many in my situation can't afford to do this jump, heck, I probably can't, but this pressure might bring out the necessity to create much more.

Technology is evolving at such a fast pace, specially in this industry. When you jump aboard a certain bandwagon, you take the risk of buying a product that cost a fortune but becomes obsolete in a year or even less. I trust in Red to not get me "burned".

Really looking forward to these news! But, provided pricing, of course, I'm currently aiming at the Epic X.

Jim you sound a little bit like you just love seeing us all just hang on every post to see what the next one is going to say.
Im sure enjoying the ride and cant wait until the bomb doors open and we all start to see explosions.
Cheers to you Jim and RED.

Its always the Punch you don't see coming. Red has been throwing Left Hooks from day one! What ever it is. I think the only obsoletion will be competition itself.

I'm hoping the changes means Scarlet being 4K instead of 3K with an interchangeable lens mount, at a 5D-killer price....

Whatever is coming I am sure it will set fire to the industry. RED is a lightening rod that sparks both good and bad discussions and I love you guys for that. I embrace different and I love people who dance to their own beat lol.

So excited! Every time something like this happens, it seems like it sends ripples throughout the REDUSER community. Those ripples fester for a while, and seem to die just in time for RED to release their next industry changing product. Exhilarating. That's all I can think of to describe this (the RED philosophy) in one word.

Jim's statement reminds me of how companies seem to frown on people who have worked a many different places in their career. They always ask why, assuming that changing jobs and roles means instability or weakness. It's always bewildered me because you'll hear those same folks talk about how they want their employees to be flexible; able to adapt to the changing tide in the market and in the industry. The fact that I have worked at many different places and in many different industries I feel shows exactly how I can be an asset; having learned to adapt, change, be flexible, and be successful in getting up to speed with a new role, learn quickly and make a difference in the company.

Red seems to understand this keenly, and is why I think they've been so successful with their goals. Not only that, but it's just exciting to see all it happen and somehow participate in all of this. Exciting times!

Scorpions, Frogs...... what about the Chameleon? Although I guess Red will always be Red.
