  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Everyone has moved up in line.

I canceled my order today. I was hoping I would get the camera by January, now it looks like it might be summer, so I couldn't wait anymore.

On a side note, Im selling:

2 - RED Batteries. NEVER USED

1 - Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 NEVER USED

I also have a laser cut Interspace case designed for the scarlet. I paid over $400 for it with the shipping.

I might be interested in that Tokina. How much, and where are you located?
 
I would be interested in the case... how much including shipping (shipped to 30144 zip code)? What makes you think it is going to be summer... what order number were you?

What day did you order your Scarlet and why do you think it'll be that long?
 
I paid $400 for the case. Obviously Ive never used it. I have no idea how much it would cost to ship it. Maybe $50??/

So will sell for $350 plus shipping? Or make me an offer.

Gut feeling about the shipping of the camera. I was #4064.
 
im in the 8k region, I don't expect it to be more than a few months. Production gets faster and more efficient after time. RED isn't staffed by 5 people.
 
Do you have the dimensions and weight of the case so I can get a UPS quote? And you're probably right on the delivery. We have #1684 and a later order 7961. Probably going to be a while on the second camera...

Yea summer is a bit extreme. I'm guessing everyone who has ordered up until this point should have it by next month. They recently allocated a shipped a ton of cameras. I'm also willing to bet that there are only about 1k-2k orders at the most, and i wouldn't be shocked if orders where in the mid to high hundreds. Its not a $800 rebel that hundreds of thousands of people can afford to just go out and buy. Also there's probably tons of people who may have just placed deposits and haven't come up with the rest of the money, and my not be able to for a few months. They churn out these things pretty quick and the manufacturing is only going to get quicker and more efficient over the next few weeks from what I understand.
 
I had to cancel my order, not because of timing, but because I had a major unexpected home repair expense that ate the money I had set aside for Scarlet. Sad, but it had to be done. What really sucks is that the expense was caused by someone (tenant/roommate) that I once considered a friend, but who has decided to become a massive asshole, potentially partially out of jealousy that I was going to own this camera.

Sad, sad, sad.

That's AWFUL! Struck a nerve! Perhaps you can get the # to Jim's attorney, I hear he has a pretty good litigation record. Best of luck in your rebuild and hopefully this is just a postponement. Dragon is coming!

Agreed, if they say they're out of Backorder by March, then I'm thinking April at the latest. I have a feature to shoot this July. I'm not worried.

PS, Marden, you win the award for best sig :)

Just to add a realist's interjection:

That was May 2010. Granted, A LOT happened between then and now that was out of RED's hands to slow the process that I totally understand, but you may still want to add more than a month of cushion to your ETA... Just to be safe. I really hope I'm wrong and we'll all have our cameras soon.

Scarlet is already being manufactured and shipping. there already have been a decent amount received, and they are really ramping up production as of this week. Epic started shipping with M #006 in Dec 2010, it took a few moths to ramp that up but there are almost 2000 Ms shipped to my knowledge. Epic-X has had a good amount shipped as well. They are just having some issues because there are a lot of things to verify when it comes to all of the stages but 4.

I feel that all of us who have ordered up to this point getting our Scarlets by next month or march at the latest is defiantly realistic. As long as RED can stay on the path that they are on to really ramp things up we should all get them quicker than expected. I almost feel that by February or March, it may be the same case as its been with the Epic M, where you can order and it ships quickly.
