  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Every second frame gets blurred.

I am also on the latest build but I think I was on 30.5 when getting this error a lot. Also I was getting it at 100 FPS as I was shooting with a 29.97 time base and 100 frames maxes out the FPS for 2k. Happens only when shooting grasses and trees for me. Recording to RED drive not CF.
I will grab a log file next time I see it

How prevalent is this error? I have an upcoming job that will be shooting strictly to CF cards and will be doing a lot of overcranking. Would do 100fps @ RC36 but if I need 120fps I'd be dropping to RC28. Does this error happen at both 36 and 28 data rate?

Well it is NOT a KNOWN problem at any data rate to any media type with current firmware, so I'd suggest to run some tests...

If you DO have an issue, please send us a LOG file, it's possible the camera may have a fault that is showing up in this manner.

Awwww crap! I'll be shooting MLB spring training. It's nothing but grass and trees!!! It will all be 23.98 base rate though, not sure if that makes a difference.

Stuart, how random is this error? If I shoot tests and it doesn't show up is the camera/firmware safe to shoot on or is it an intermittent error that may come and go while shooting?

Nick, can you PM me your email address? I'll drop you a couple of files to take a look at.I wasn't able to simulate exactly what you were doing, but I shot a test at 2K, 16:9 100fps, RC28 at ASA800. Shot on a Nikon 35mm prime at F2.8. I know you shot stopped down, so perhaps this isn't the best test but at least have a look and see what you think. This was just a very quickie test in the edit studio, with minimal lights, so not much to look at. :-)

I would say that it's a very low probability your camera would have that kind of issue at all Paul.

BTW I have received only one LOG file... so if anyone does have an issue, please that to me at stuart@red.com
