Can anyone in Amsterdam check it out (Hall 7, same as RED) and share the experience ?

Great Device! The Prototype looked very, very promising 3 months ago.
it feels good in your hands. don't expect it to be more than 2K euros.
it will be a bargain.

Hi,
Checked it out yesterday and it feels very good, though the surface of the panel is not very rugged: it tends to bend a little when you apply pressure to some of the buttons. Was assured that it was a prototype issue and it will be resolved in production units.
One important feature was missing: ability to adjust sensitivity of the trackballs, but this also will be resolved in production units.
I liked it a whole lot better than the Wave product in ergonomics/form factor sense.
Retail was something like 1500,- euro

It's a very well designed device, with a low learning curve to use it. Euphonix is still busy to improve the final product and it's software. I am really looking forward to the final product.

Haven´t touched it yet, but from the photo i can tell that it´s no use for me, there are way to many knobs on the panel to have a good workflow barely using the mouse or keyboard. I do prefer the Tangent WAVE, it´s designed to stay on the panel for 95% of your tasks and forget about mouse and keyboard.

my 2 cents

The Wave is huge, way too big for my taste. At least it is for a compact console. The MC Color much more elegant and it's definitely my first choice, I am pretty sure I'll go for one.

Should be available end of november for around €1500.

IMHO the only advantage of the Wave is, that it's bus powered. I talked with a Euphonix guy about that. The Artist Series is modular, so I came up with the idea about a battery module whitch could be attached on the side. He thought it was actually a very good idea, I just hope I'm not the only one who would like to have a mobile solution with some kind of autonomy.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I didn't see any specifics on their website. Is the MC Color an Apple Color specific tool or would this be usuable on other systems (FCP, SpeedGrade)?

be sure to check out the Wave in person. I had a look at both and the mcColor software is not ready and the unit is not yet in production.
Also the Wave has 2 lines of text and a very clever setup of the interface for Color that you can easily personalise. The feel of the balls is the approx the same for both units.

Anyone know the release date on these? I was just about to pick up a wave but this seems like it may be a better option.

Don't wait on this. I met them at a small expo last week. Release date has been pushed back to Winter. I sensed an after January ship date. Maybe they'll surprise with something sooner. But if you need something now - move on.

Unfortunately they didn't have the prototype to touch.

ok i'm a hugh MC Control & MC Mix user (even in FCP its better and faster sometimes in compare to mouse & key's-> touchscreen)

... and i can't wait to test this thing at my dealer ... wait ... its too long till its released :(

anyway... i think it can improve the work inside Color since we spend a lot of time in there (to let the Canon XH-A1 footage look like it was an RED shoot ;)) ... i hope that there will be an fcp 3-way-colorcorr. integration in an update later :)

That's not in their hands, Apple has to provide an API for that. JL Cooper have a workaround for the Eclipse, it emulates mouse movements. A nice idea, but not very reliable for production.

But we're used to wait and hope for Apple to make a move :rolleyes5:

The Wave really is nice, and the driver is much more advanced at the moment, but as I said, for me it's just too big. I'll wait.
