  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ETA on RED DRIVES (320GB) ?

I ordered my REDdrives in may 2007 so I cant see how that could have caugth you guys by surprise. I would expect that you could estimate sales based on all those preorderes or aleast expect 2-3(2,5) drives per camera.
I have a very nice camerapakage sitting doing nothing ,while I wait for my drives. These are going to be very expensive drives if they dont arrive very soon.

I wish someone with a stock like yours would come forward with a drive they would be willing to sell me. :sorcerer:

I ordered mine about a year ago too. You would think that at some point there was a warehouse that was getting empty and someone would have placed an order.

...but I am sure its more complicated than that. It's a new company, after all. Only so much capital to work with at a time. Im sure it's a balancing act.

I think young boys in Africa are still deep in the mines bringing up the metal to make the drives.
 
Guys - please - what's going on with the drives? Are bigger ones around the corner or what's going on?
 
I agree. We need the Red Drive. How many weeks has it been back-ordered now?

It would be cool if the drive itself was upgraded in the meantime, though.

Just for fun, I bought a couple of the Lexar Cards today. Could use'em in the DSLR if things hit the fan, but they have so far worked very nice.

When the 8gb RED flash was released, the price was real good. Now the shop on the corner is a good option.

my point?

Letting the camera collect dust, doesn't make much sense, business or otherwise, and as both the cards and the disks have their definite weak and strong spots, the combo is thee good thing.

I hope they re-design the disks to be a bit more protected. In that case, it's worth the wait...

The drives have been backordered for more than a month now, and we still don't have even a timeframe...
Come on guys, what could possibly take so long ?
Are you making changes to the drives, or what is the issue ?

I'm starting to think I will get my EVF before I receive my drives...

Just got off the phone with RED.

I was told that they have made a great deal of progress on the drives in the past week. They expect to begin shipping out the backorder log within 1.5-2 weeks.

Thats what I was told. Thats all I know.

I didn't ask about any other accessories.

I heard "very soon" from my rep so I think the two week window is accurate.
