Hey RED team...when can I get my EVF? serial 610 here...need it....hard to focus on this tiny screen!

all I can say is thank god this LCD can be seen in the bright mid day sun! how on EARTH did they do that??!?

the little magicians at Red.....working overtime I guess... :)

I would almost put the EVF and Nikon mount as most wanted items at this point.

Both Nikon Mount and EVF are at the tops of our list, too. EVFs, we are getting them out and, as we mentioned awhile back, production was ramping up during February. So, now that March is here, increased quantities of EVFs will be delivered.

Nikon Mount is coming very soon as well. See http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8846&page=11 for most current info.

Brent,
That's what we keep hearing (ramping up, increased quantities) which is great, but can you quantify the quantities? What's the projected run rate? How many per month? What's the intended ramp? Can you give us some sense of what you are targeting? You've done that with cameras and are on track, how about the EVFs?

I will see about getting updated numbers this week from our EVF product manager.

I can say we are talking hundreds per month moving forward, not dozens.

Brent,

Thanks for the quick reply! And the numbers are encouraging.

Cheers,
M

Thanks Brent,

it is great news to know that the EVF will be shipping in great numbers.

I'm finally dealing with Travis for my cameras to be shipped shortly and I know for sure that I will not do with out the EVF as not only I prefer it to the LCD, but I can say that RED's EVF is absolutely the best EVF out there, some could argue that but after having played with it and already having played with the D20, Dalsa and 900r, RED's is in a world of his own!

Bring them home soon Brent!

Hi Ketch,

Where and when did you get the opportunity to use a DALSA camera?

Hi Illya,

yeah, I wish I did, no I have never used a Dalsa, and Dalsa would have been my only choice if RED wasn't here.

I don't even remember all the places were I played with it, I think, in Miami and at CineGear for sure, also were I was introduced to an amazing set of lenses, I believe Leica glass.

Please don't be offended by my statement about loving the RED EVF and of it been in a world of its own, as this is my opinion in regards not just as its capabilities but again when talking about RED products we are talking about Quality, the Design of its Ergonomics and, above all, Price. In this regard the RED EVF it is no doubt on a world of its own, bar none.

That said, Dalsa's View Finder is no doubt also considered by the people I spoke with, and for what little I deed see my self, among the very best in the industry, with many features, which now I don't recall all of them, but I do remember to be amazed by it, also if I remember correctly they had an extension tube mount to it for a particular shoot, the View finder it self was extremely bright and a pleasure to the eye not only as to the angle of view but for the ergonomics as well.

When I say played with as I did many times with the RED and, other cameras, I mean play, not shot or worked with, as I have as yet to shoot with any camera, my opinions are formed in my knowledge of the products true presentations such as CineGear and NAB, and or directly at shoot's and studios which I have visited during my research for buying cameras and gear for my newly formed Production company, in the past two years.

So do forgive me if at times my opinions offend your great product and do remember that I'm not a professional in the field (at list not yet) so everything I say is again an opinion, based on likes and my knowledge of how things work and what they do, and not by experience in the field, and everyone here knows that, as I have never in any of my posts alluded any one to believe that I'm a Pro, however I'm very Serious about the Craft and very Passionate about this Industry and I share my honest opinions with that regard.

Ciao,

EVF news from RED #54

EVF news from RED #54

We talked with RED earlier in the week and were told EVFs had been delivered to RED owners through numbers 44 of the owners who have ordered them. We are number 54 and have been waiting on the EVF since Thursday Oct. 18th at which time they said EVFs should be shipping on Monday Oct. 22nd. 2007. We are 10 EVFs away and its been a long wait, but its a really great viewfinder. We just paid $11,000 for a new Sony color viewfinder for a new F900R and I would consider the RED EVF every bit as nice all for under $3000. Good luck number 610 in your wait. Sorry to all for the bitter sweet news.

No doubt, the early adopters have had to be VERY patient waiting on EVFs. With production ramped up, the delta between camera delivery and EVF delivery will be less and less painful as the reservation numbers get higher.

Like Resolution said, this EVF is well, well worth the wait. I seem to remember people once saying that about RED ONEs.... :)

I have heard that the refresh rates of the EVF make it strobe a bit. Any comments on this current EVF owners?
