Starting my first Red job and had a question about what drives/connections will work best for my project.

I have a 3Ghz MacPro Dual Core, 4GB RAM, Tiger 10.4.11, FCP 6.0.4
I need about 3 TB of space for footage & working files (renders, etc)
I will only need this space for the offline in FCP and will be using the M quicktime proxies.
Cost is a big issues, only have about $2000

Should I go with 2 2TB G-Raid Firewire 800 drives and buy a PCIe Firewire card (so their not sharing the same bus) or should I go with the G-Speed Esata 3TB Raid array?

Has anybody used either of these storage solutions specifically or have any advice on Firewire vs Esata? Any other possible storage solutions (within my budget) would be appreciated. Also, any recommendations on G-Technology vs. Caldigit, I heard both were reliable?

Go the esata route. It is drastically faster then FW800 and you'll need that speed for dealing with that much data.

Plus, the MBP only has one FW800, which means you will be doubling up the bus when you chain the RED drive and your destination drive. esata will free up the bus and it will be drastically faster.

Red users are not allowed to use FW 800, I will not allow it.
