I have a shoot next week and need fast offload times. I have a 12 Core Mac running Lion and I wanna add Esata to it. What is the most reliable card that will work with a Red Station. I talked to someone at red and they said to stay away from the raid controller cards. And suggestions?

One more question Jeff. 6GB/min doesn't seem that fast. How much faster is that than FireWire 800. What are your offload times?

I'm using the CalDigit FASTA-6GU3 which had two eSata and two USB3 ports and it works fine with the SSD station. I have a base station that gives power to the stack and one SSD reader to offload the R3D files and a CF reader which offloads audio files / ProRes files from a KiProMini.

All work fine for me.

:))

+1 for the CalDigit 6GU3 card. Works great and gives you both USB3.0 and 6Gbps eSATA.

The CalDigit will work with a mac pro running lion? No problems connecting to the Red Station?

2 years with a Sonnett E4P, almost 10 GB/min copying to internal RAID 0 (of 2 disks), 8-9 GB/min to external e-sata spare drive. Very useful for me the 4 ports so you can do 2 copies at same time without loosing speed! I love that card!!!!
I'm on a early '08 8cores running OSX 10.6, no Lion for me.

Hey Carlo, what Graphics card are you running on your 08 8 core? That's what I have and I'm looking for some options to help things along in Premiere. Right now 4K playback in premiere is basically impossible... I have a GTX385 (1gb) and 10gb RAM.

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated :)

(sorry for the threadjack, guys)

The CalDigit cards are the best option. The Sonnet cards (and especially their drivers) are flaky!

Yeah - not had a problem with it under Lion.

The great thing is that it has the 2 x eSATA and the 2 x USB3 ports, which ill be great for running the USB3 RED Stations when they are out, and having backup #2 & #3 on eSATA drives from those ports.

No issues connecting the RED Stations to this card. Very stable.
