Has anyone else had this problem?
Two of my ACs have had their Expresscard eSATA adapters get buggy after using their Macbook Pros to transfer Sony SxS cards from the EX cameras.
When the first guy had the problem, I just assumed he got a bad adapter. But when the second guy had an identical problem on his very first EX-1 shoot, it clicked. I think it must be a Sony driver conflict? Seems like removal of the driver would clear it up.
Any insight would be great...
Cheers,
Harry

i have several laptops that have done both RED (with esata express card adapters) and Sony S X S shoots, with no problems as of yet. the red shoots outnumber the S X S shoots by about 25 to 1 (of course) but we have done plenty of sony shoots too.

your assumption sounds very reasonable though.....hmmm....wish i could be more help...

I have the Sony software installed. While I don't have an esata express card, I DO use the CF adapter to offload footage. And it crashes the entire system fairly often upon removal of the adapter. I wonder if this is related? (Yes I always unmount the card, and power off the adapter before removal)

Does an express card adapter need a driver as well?

The Expresscard that I and my ACs bought did not need software to work on a Macbook Pro.
I've been on the road this week so have not been able to follow up with Jay and Nick. But I'll post again if we solve the mystery.
Cheers,
Harry

What is a good ExpressCard slot eSata II adapter for a MacBook Pro?
