I couldn't find anything when I searched, but sorry if this is a repeat.

I've been using the proxy work flow, using half-rez (high rez?) proxies for 4k footage. I have (for the most part) been able to easily trim clips in FCP, and would like to continue to use this method, as it is saving me time and disk space. However, upon sending to Color, several of the clips have playback issues. They will play a few seconds, and then they start looping a few frames until the end of the clip duration. Others are nothing but loops of a few frames throughout the clip's entire duration, and others still (separate project) will have a crazy playback where all I can see is a rapid succession of four or five frames from throughout the timeline, looped over and over. Tragically, it all carries over to the rendered .movs. I know this can be solved with the L&T method, but I'd like to avoid that if possible. Has anybody else had similar experiences?

You can fix this by exporting an EDL and then importing it into color. XML doesn't work but EDL does. However, when you send back to FCP, you have to re-insert all transitions/effects.

Thanks for the assist. I'll be giving this a try.

I've just been trying this, but I've never used an EDL before. What export settings/import settings should I be using? It seems like the main problem that Color is having is finding the source media. On the Color timeline, it seems to be looking for clips named, "001," "002," "003," etc. How do I point it to the RED proxies?

Try starting a new project from an EDL if you didnt' do that. When you import, it will ask you for the media location. Point to the drive that has all the footage. If you have it on multiple drives, choose the location "volumes".

If you have renamed your QT files (not in the bin window but in finder) then you will not be able to reconnect media automatically.

Color automatically names the clips the 001, 002, etc. even if it can find them, that's because the EDL doesn't give it a name like the XML does.
