Hey Guys,
HAve some R3D footage we're testing for a shoot this weekend. We're using the Tascam HD-P2 to record our audio separately, we also do not have any timecode jam sync running so we are testing the workflow of manually syncing the audio files in RCXP.

R3D's go in fine. When we attach the external audio to the R3D, it comes up with an error in the Status tab:

Error loading external audio file /FILEPATHNAME/Take01.wav

Using Build 17 of RCXP

Any thoughts on why its not attaching the audio file???

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Steve,

Can you send a verbose log file to redcinex at red dot com? I'm assuming the Tascam puts out a standard BWF?

David

Hi David,

I have emailed you the details and a brief history of what is happening.

Yes - the instructions say the Tascam stores a BWF with the file extension .wav

Thanks in advance.

Steve

By just converting the file in to a WAV that seems exactly the same as the original (with Quick Time 7 Pro), RedCine imported it correctly... I'll file a report and send the two files.

Having a similar issue here. Syncing R3D files with wav files from a Tascam DR-680. I'm able to attach the files no problem, save the project and come back to it with them still in sync. However sometimes, like tonight, I come in the project and I get an error on every clip saying "Error loading external audio file [path]" I have not changed the location of the files, they remain the same drive in the same directory they have been. Any idea what may be the issue? It is a bit annoying losing hours of sync work.

I'm getting the same thing using a Tascam DR680. It used to work perfectly, recording 6 channel wavs as 24 bit WAV (not BWF) at 48khz.

RCX Rejects these files as described above.

I ran them through Adobe Audition and output them as the same spec 6ch file type, RCX picks them up. I'm on the latest version of RCX on Mac OS X 10.7.5.

Hi David,

I downloaded and installed 17.3 (Mac OSX).

When I check the version in app, it says it is 17.27144, is that correct?

If it is the correct version, the problem still persists. The only difference is that I now see a progress bar briefly before it prints out the error.

Thanks
Mondo

Can someone send me a * small * sample wav file to redcinex at red dot com that shows this issue?

Thanks,
David

Still having this issue in 20.2

Maybe an issue with how the Tascam records its files?

50% of clips will autosync, the next 25% can be manually sync'd, and the remaining 25% won't even import into RCX.

I sent a sample file off to the email above.

When ever I use my Tascam DR100 I tend to have audio issues syncing the uncomformed files in Redcine X Pro, however if I load the files in WaveAgent, from sound devices (its a free app), make sure the audio files are conformed to 23.976 and 48 KHz, adjust your in/out points and rename the files if desired, then save the files and exit. The files load and sync properly in Redcine X Pro after being conformed in WaveAgent.
