  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ergo...

Something like this...? (crude photoshopped pic attached)

Every time someone mentions poor cable management, this is what crops up in my head; a second I/O module option with rear-facing connectors. Seems like a 'no-brainer' to me.

Yes please!

Except cables pointing out the back at approximately a 45 degree angle on the dumb side is the best solution and allows for easier operation options and less cable snags and breaks.

Holy crap ...

guys!!! i thought you were developping at a normal pace :)

Looks superb, just SUPERB.

Ah...ALSO...

Nice to see that handles etc...fit nicely.
We will be able to use most of our accessories.

thanks

Antoine

I must be getting old, I'd rather have this on my shoulder than Scarlet Johanson.
Congratulations, RED team.

How about I put her and my shoulders and you can shoot me. :sarcasm:

That would work. Also as a 'terminator module', as in an endpiece that closes the chain of modules to protect the otherwise exposed module connector on the back of the last module. Would be better than some rubbery cover...

Is there a way to post the images so we don't have to wade through responses to get to them?

I wrote the same awhile ago. I'm sure this is already in the works (not because it was my suggestion, rather because it's just too damn obvious).

Very interesting build for the rods--why suffer the extra weight of rods that go the entire length of the camera? Then again, the v-lock clamps make life easier on RED ONE. It also allows the low rider mode. But my guess is the Brains and their Mods have a better answer for EVERYTHING! Keep up the awesome work!

Epic epic bo bepic banana fana fo fepic :):):):)

Definitely looking forward to this. Keep it up guys. I might even have enough money to buy it during the first round if money keeps coming in at the current rate. Haha.

Out of curiosity, is this supposed to be a scarlet or epic brain... it looks a wee bigger than I had imagined a scarlet to be.

The thing with modular is that if Red allow licensing of aspects of the design, third parties can design modules for the system.
You won't have to bug Red for every permutation of BOB or battery config.
If there is a market for a particular module, there may well be a variety of vendors to choose from.
I think Red might even prefer to have third parties to meet some of these requests.

Great one Jim,

and surely looking forward to more...

Definitely looks like the reduce size and weight will allow even me and my F^@^@^^Up knee to be able to handle it at ease, love it.

And I'll very likely leave the side grip on at all times as it will be a good way to handle the camera as well during changing shooting position, even when on a shoulder mount configuration as the one showed on post #1.

If you guys keep it up, I could possibly shoot the US Chronicles of Perseverance scenes with an early Prototype??? :):):)

ciao

Some challenging ergonomic ideas,

1/ The pistol grip could be adjusted downwards to form a hand grip when the camera is used on the shoulder.

2/ If this is not possible then a removable duplicate grip with same push buttons and controls (lens zoom focus assist ect?) to be attached via a rose joint to camera. Such hardware could also be used at rear of camera or even attached to pan bar as a remote.

3/ To aid balance with heavier lenses the shoulder pad and viewfinder should be able to slide further forwards, even if the shoulder pad projects forward beyond the camera body.

4/ Ability to rig viewfinder on the rear of camera aides rigging and operating in awkward places. Perhaps a rose joint on every module? Ditto for the pistol grip.

5/ Right angle module adapter to enable camera head to be set at 90 degrees (in any direction) to rest of body, will aid rigging and operating in tight quarters such as cars.
