We purchased a RED 300mm lens--we are wanting to purchase a support for the lens, a matte box, filters for the lens, and a follow focus system, and we were just looking for recommendations. Cost is a concern but quality is, as well.

We have also been thinking about purchasing one of the dollys located here: http://www.filmtools.com/rounddround.html or http://www.filmtools.com/matthews-red-dolly-12081.html

Has anyone worked with this brand before and would you recommend?

Any suggestions and links are welcome. Thanks!

If you purchase a matte box, your filters go in there and have to be sized for it, not the lens.

I don't use lens support when shooting with the 300, but some use a universal mount with a bolt and a ton of washers. There's a thread here somewhere...

Is this your only lens?

By focus puller I assume you mean the follow focus system and not the person? Kinda hard to purchase a person these days... Go ARRI -

Which 300mm lens? The new Pro model or the older model? If it's the original model, a universal mount with a bolt is all you need for support. For the newer one, it's a bit tricky. I've cobbled together a temporary support until I have time to do it right or until someone actually makes a good one.

With the new Pro model you NEED support, it's a pretty heavy lens. The original one isn't as heavy but I would still recommend support for it. Over time, the weight can affect your mount. Either 300mm RED lens takes drop-in filters in 43mm size. I picked up a set of Hoya NDs .3, .6, and .9. I have ordered a polarizer for screwing onto the front of the lens since I will often be using this lens without a mattebox.
