We've compiled an extensive stack of media related gear... and people stop by all the time to "borrow" a camera... or lights... or a memory card..

is there a decent application out there that someone's developed to help people like us keep track of our stuff?

we've got a spreadsheet... but... man... that's a pain...

I need a GUI... with some cute graphics... and big shiny buttons...

Bento here also.

But invoice2go is also very nice, my inventory is there and all my invoices are in my iphone (and on the cloud) . And you can even have barcodes and scan your items. Love the app.

we have tons of equipment but cant track everything nicely so many things gets stolen on the sets we realize weeks later..
once i bought equipment from Frederic Chamberlain and he had barcode on all the items.

Also looking for something simple, preferreably web based so it can be accessed from mobile devices. Kind of cms sytem, did some research, but most options are or a quite expensive monthly fee or way to complicated/ to many options. Just need a check in/ check out and inventory system.

I think i someone would make it, and sell it for a reasonable price alot of people would use it

We have also been looking for such a system. I've been up and down the internet trying to find a reasonable solution. After discounting the idea of using a homebrew, and anything related to filemaker, the front contenders are...

I spoke with them at length at NAB and they have what appears to be a very mature product.
Resides on Windows server, Oracle backend DB.
Remote web access is via terminal services, icky iOS support.
You buy hardware, they come and configure it onsite.
No monthly fee. $17,000 for initial setup.
Seems pretty complete, Integrates with Quickbooks, check in, check out etc.

FLEX Rental Management Solutions

Inquired via email and got a response form the CEO, a very technical guy - I read his blog, he knows the software inside and out.
Resides on their server.
Remote access via web browser, Adobe Flash fontend. No iOS support but supposedly upcoming.
No hardware to buy except barcode scanner.
Monthly fee around $300 for lifetime of the product.
Seems pretty complete, Integrates with Quickbooks, check in, check out etc.

Each has its pros and cons, nothing totally fits our needs and they all cost too much.

The previously mentioned wiosoft.com looks promising as well.

I'd love to hear what others are using.
