  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic X!

I said it on the "Responses" thread but I am afraid it will get lost.
Guys I propose we all send in Christmas Cards to RED from all around the world as a little thank you

with a monstro upgrade letter to santa 2009  :innocent:

How do you define "existing RED ONE owners"? If I buy a RED One camera next March, do I still qualify to upgrade to an EPIC X package?

Thanks.

Jarred stated that anyone buying a ONE before the first delivery of X, will qualify.

Jim, I just wanted to say THANKYOU from the bottom of my heart for Epic X. Too many whingers in the main response thread, which I am frankly shocked at. Epic X basically covers everything we can do with our Red Ones and a ton more, such that no one could possibly complain about a lack of features in the upgrade, for just US$10,500.... yet some still do!

The titanium highlights and X designation just make the deal that much sweeter. Kind of your "signature" series limited edition cameras for those of us who believed early on. Will look great next to my titanium "R".... :)

Can't wait to own Epic X #378 and once again be the pioneer here in Japan.

Look forward to next year!

Thanks again for your generosity.

Paul

Oh, Man! And i was all set to stick with my R1. but for 10 grand....I think this may be an offer to sweet for even me to refuse.

I was actually leaning towards getting a Scarlett for a b camera, but the Epic X is way too sweet. I'll be in line for mine that's for sure.

I'm guessing that we'll trade one of our RED Ones in for the Epic-X. And then we'll decide what to do with the second one. My guess is that we'll sell it and buy a Scarlet FF35 and use the Scarlet for the A-cam and the Epic-X as the special-shots B-cam. The only thing I'm wondering about is the visual difference in the compression between the REDCode 225 for Epic FF35 and REDCode 100 for Scarlet. If there is no visual difference, then that's a no brainer. . . we'll definitely go for Scarlet FF35.

Anyone else have similar thoughts?

Stephen

$10,500 based upon the $28,000.00 price shown yesterday.

Yeah. . . the Monstro S35 is the single camera I want. . . and a lot of people want. . . but there's no dice on that score.

Stephen

My guess: It'll come.
It's the most obvious upgrade path for all R1 owners, and RED seems to know their customer base.

if a monstro s35 will come to a r1 it should be possible to get it into the epic x too (yes i would pay for the upgrade)

i really like PL Glass
its working in a narrative enviroment.
i hope red will make some bad ass glass...cant wait for the primes.

I am very excited about the EPIC X announcement, very generous of RED indeed. I would like to wait for Monstro but if there was indeed an upgrade path that did not involve buying a new brain then I would jump on the EPIC X in a minute. This is wishful thinking I believe unless I missed something. Jim has been pretty clear on upgrades in the modular world of RED means buying a new brain? Correct me if I am wrong.
