  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic X vs Scarlet X (what are the differences?)

The reasons stated are big differences.

3:1 compression is a big deal. 5k is a big deal. 96FPS in 5k is a HUGE deal...
I think 5K is a pretty big deal, and 96fps at 5K definitely is. 3:1 compression... eh, not so much. The Scarlet can do 6:1 in it's 4K 24p mode, and that's plenty.

Are all the lower rez/higher frame rate modes windowed? I can't help but be reminded of just about every other camera in this price range that forces you to shoot in 720p to get 60fps--however, they still manage to let you do it full frame. My understanding is that the Scarlet doesn't have the processing power to down sample each frame to the smaller resolution as you're shooting, so to compensate they just decreased the pixels it's sampling from to save horsepower. Is that about right?
