Many of you may of heard the news from Japan today via the IHS ISuppli chain summit, that the Electronics Supply Chain is expected to recover in late August / early September, and I am happy to confirm that our suppliers are finally reporting to us a very similar message.

For those of you that may of missed the news:

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/semiconductor-supply-chip-supplier-japan-earthquake,13030.html

http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20110629-710262.html

Granted.. we have been told various recovery dates over the last 3 months that have never panned out, but we are incredibly optimistic that the train has finally been put back on the tracks and we will be able to begin shipping EPIC-X cameras at the end of August with full production in the first 2 weeks of September.

As you know, we have been at the mercy of suppliers since March, but we haven't been standing still.... Our assembly lines and assembly staff in Southern California have been built up to full capability and once the parts hit our docks, we will be able to build a tremendous amount of cameras in a short period of time.

I can also offer some clarity regarding the EPIC-X package, since a few things have changed since we first announced Stage 2.

We have upgraded the package to include a Titanium PL mount as standard instead of the Aluminum mount,, and also upgrade to the Side SSD module as standard instead of the CF side module. The Base I/O module has been discontinued and will no longer be included.

I am happy to say the package price will remain the same.

Previous Stage 2 Package: Brain, PL Mount (Al) , Side CF Module , 5" LCD, REDmote , Module Adaptor , Base I/O Module , Pro Battery Module, 2x REDVolts , Travel Charger

New Stage 2 Package : Brain , PL Mount (Ti) , Side SSD Module , 5" LCD, REDmote, Module Adaptor , Pro Battery Module, 2x REDVolts, Travel Charger

CRAZY its gonna get crazy.

Wow, including the Titanium PL mount is huge. As is upgrading the side module to SSD. And Pro battery module. Wow... Thanks guys, incredibly good news...

this is great to hear:-) and titanium mount!!! whoo!!

just one question..... seeing how side handle looks like a very handy module, how much will those go for and available as stage 2 ships? hehehe

Jarred,

Great news on the shipping schedule. Love the Titanium mount and SSD swap! Awesome!

What's the plan for I/O module? Will the Pro I/O be available at ship date? And if so, what price? If not, when will it be available? Having additional I/O is really important for our work.

Also, one of the reason I went with stage 2 vs. stage 3 was the 5" vs. 2.8" LCD, plus getting the camera sooner of course, and the expectation back then that there would be a longer time period between stage 2 and stage 3 shipments which would have given us a competitive advantage. Now it seems there won't be a significant timing advantage of stage 2 over stage 3, and I'm curious what the config will be for stage 3. Will there be a difference?

M

Upgrading the side module to SSD for no charge is fantastic news. That's a cost I can spend on media instead.

Oh, before I get too excited.... Does this news apply to the Stage-3 package too?

I don't know how much people understand. Some more then others, but this is INCREDIBLY generous news. Thanks RED it's very kind of you upgrading the package like that. Makes the EPIC X a bargain now. Don't know what to say.... except THANK YOU (almost in tears lol)

Still working on the side handle details.. they should ship with or very close to EPIC-X deliveries.

Wohoo, great news.

thanks for including the TI mount and the SSD Module at no extra charge, this is huge !!!

Looking forward to August/September

sorry, i must've missed that, what is the "estimate" price?

That is stage 2 upgrade price. Deposit was 5k and once camera is ready for delivery if i remember right it's 14.5k. But i'm going to take a guess that you're not stage two if you're asking that question:-P

Killer, love the T mount.... SSD Module.

Appreciate the timeline update.

But, wow...despite all the supply issues and inflated costs...

RED's hold the price!

Thanks Jim, Jarred, and Team RED!!! AGAIN!
