I understand what you're saying Mike ... but not quite an apples-to-apples comparison there. What you get in Stage 3 is NOT equal to what comes in an M package -- as it was announced before, it doesn't have the side handle, SSD module, SSD media, or Bomb EVF. That's probably about $12-15,000 in extras to equal an M package. So really, it's more like Red One + $23-25,000. With Epic-M being $58,000, the real difference is more like $13,000-18,000 (forgive me if my math sucks, these are all very quick mental estimates.)
I'm morally certain every Stage will come with an SSD module; it hasn't been officially announced, but I no longer believe RED will want anyone using CF on EPIC. SSD is the future, if you must use CF there is/will be a CF-SSD adaptor. I don't think there will ever be a CF module released for EPIC.
The side handle... that's $900 or so I think. The Bomb $3200...
The media, yes... 4 x 128GB, that's around $7000. So you're not far wrong on the numbers, $11k-12k I would call it.
All your other points make perfect sense.
Doesn't help me any, I don't NEED a Bomb, I can't afford that much storage all at once. And if I told my accountant I wanted to drop $60k on an M she would divorce me and I'd have to go buy a used betacam or something.
Oh... wait... she has more money than I do! Maybe I could make a business case for divorce...
