Is there a projected date that this would be a reality? 1 month? 3 months? 6?, more?...

Thanks in advance

Kalani you making the jump from the Scarlet dream? I might be looking to possibly do the same with the unknown future.

Not to go too far off topic but, I feel the same way. Too many unknown variables with the Scarlet. If I could scrape together a little more money, I'd pick up a RED One. Its still very appealing.

Should be caught up in a few months... production is ramping up quickly.

I guess neither of us is really right :

"Please note: EPIC-X Brain price was $27,500 + $500 for aluminum mount = $28,000. Since the aluminum mount is no longer an option, the current EPIC-X Brain is really $27,500 + $2000 for Ti PL Mount = $29,500. Same goes for 2012 price of EPIC-X Brain. $34,500 + $2000 = $36,500 including Ti PL Mount. Sorry about the oversight."

Red One MX compares well to an Alexa - the Alexa has slightly more dynamic range, the Red a much higher resolution and a much sharper and less halo-prone OLPF. Other than that, the only camera that comes close or exceeds Red One in an Epic - so yeah, it's still the second best camera in the world, and still appealing indeed.

Not to jump off topic either... but am I to assume that since Scarlet is after Epic-X that it is still a few MONTHS out, I know that isnt anything after 3 yars of waiting, but with no news on it its hard to hold my head... If I had any specs, a projected date and maybe some Idea of $$ it would be so helpful... right now im looking to get out of my 7D into a GH2 and hack it, the footage is amazing and the DOF is really stunning... But Ive held out for three years for scarlet. Im not a big time film person, im a small time short film company, and though Id love to join the "RED for the masses" but its hard to figure stuff out and I cant have NO camera... Jim just a little word of advice PLEASE? just tell me if I should be waiting a little longer (I can go about a month without a camera since my sundance film is now in post) but whats down the pipeline for us little guys?

Conservatively speaking, I wouldn't bet on seeing Scarlet anytime within the next 4 months..

I thought scarlet were very close since the speed of making epic x seams quite nice and if i dont remember wrong red is going to to make another asemble team. Also Jim seams to be in a very good mode and hyped
up mode like everything is running smothly. I would be suprised if i would get any answers since the new
Red policy but here we go. Is scarlet likely to release before the end of this year? Is it still parts missing?

If you need to shoot and you like the GH2 buy the dang thing, it costs like what? You been to MaCdonalds lately?
Here's one on Amazon for you, 999 bucks! With a Zoom! http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMC-GH2-Interchangeable-Free-Angle-Black/dp/B0043VE27Y
That's about what an SSD for Scarlets gonna run you.

Scarlet will come out when it comes out.

NAB 2012 with Epic and Scarlet s35mm (or whatever in that way) have both the new 14 stops DR native RED Dragon sensors.
