Epic X 5" Touch LCD Stopped Working. Now what? Replacement? Where?

Our 5" Touch LCD for RED EPIC X stopped working. Where do we find a replacement? Is there anything else that is compatible? Anyone have a used one for sale? Can you operate the camera without it?

Yes, you can operate the camera without it, if you have a sidehandle or a sidekick module, or a redmote. Dunno was there any foolcontrol for DMSC1 also. But, personally, I find the touch lcd the most comfortable solution. You can find one used on the market, or buy the new 4,7 with an adaptor. Or buy the 7" one, but it is far way less sturdy than the 5" was.

Any of the buttoned solutions has its limitations. Like - you can control audio input gain only via the touch screen. Maybe, you can assign a hotkey solution for that, but you'll still have to use the touchscreen for that.

The touch screen is the best way to operate the camera. The side handle is nice, but you get faster/more controls with the touch screen.

You could pick up a used 4.7" touch with Lemo adapter...my Dad is selling one. DM me if interested.

Get the 7 inch. I have the 5 touch and love it. The 7", specially if you have a dsmc2, is great because while bulkier, its "snap on" design make it much more run and gun and fast location change friendly.

That’s the one thing that always bothered me about DSMC1 and beyond, there’s no controls right on the camera. The RED One joystick and menu buttons do the trick every time and I can see the case for having the side handle but relying on the touch screen and basically another part means you’re not only depending on the camera to work but also the part you’re using for controlling the camera. With the RED One you just needed an LCD to see the image, everything else was a simple button on the camera body or using the joystick to find a menu option. Then, like the original LCDs, RED may not support the LCDs as long as the camera or it will cost about as much as buying a new one to fix it, which is what happened to my RED One’s 7” LCD and now my 5.6” LCD which I’m trying the DIY replacement part solution with now.
