Just trying to understand. The Epic is reported to be 5 lbs, yet the videos I have watched seem to suggest the camera body is lighter. In some shots it looks incredibly light. Can anyone that has held it chime in and give your impression?

Just bumping this thread as I'd like to know too. Seems very light for what I've seen, and Jim's comment yesterday about him holding the camera above his head with one hand is a very exciting indication of how light it must be.

hard to say. i am assuming that when it is tricked out to have all the capabilities of R1 it might be a bit heavier. The reason I assume this is that modules have sidewalls and as you add on it woud be heavier compared to the unibody design of Red One.

The very cool thing is that an R1 body never can get lighter, but an EPIC body can get way lighter if you want it to, very flexible and functional.

I think Epic feels light because that 5 pounds is in such a compact package. It really is smaller in your hand then it looks in pictures. I think I have heard this from everyone who has held the working Epic.

Correct Justin, I fill the same, holding the Epic with both the 17-50 and the 50mm Prime with LCD and the Grip, its just for some reason much more comfortable, and seems even lighter, (which is not) then my ex Hassy and Phase one MF cameras, just love what they have done, and simply can't wait to start using it in Photo Shoots!

There may be a wait for Epic, but when you get it, it won't be an Epic weight :-)
