Using the Sigma 18-35 1.8 and Zeiss Ze 15mm with Epic-W (IPP2) for on location check for a upcoming project, I discovered some nasty light smears on the Sigma – A bit disappointing compared to the Zeiss Ze, which had none of it. I will update the test next with the Cooke S4i 18mm T2.0, which we will use for the final shooting.

Could this have to do with the Zeiss having a permanent lens hood attached getting rid of any sort of flare? I have the zeiss and it's a great lens, but can't test it next to the sigma.

nope, I think its a weakness of the Sigma, in that particularly case. The Zeiss "lens hood" is nearly is more a decoration :)

The lens was clean :)

Interesting!

What T Stop on the Sigma?

Funny enough I see a different form of diffusion feel on the 15mm ZE - looks more like spherical aberration (not CA), but would agree the sigma streak feel appears to be more of a polishing, finger grease, or moisture in the lens type of scenario.

Wondering if the sigma was at 1.8 or 2.8 :)

F stop on both was 4.
