A recent quick one day shoot for a small local business.
Inside and outside shots, shot on the beach w NO light modifiers!
Used Epic-W shot at 6k, IPP2 color pipeline, Lecia-R 24 & 50 lenses

I've prepared a folder with a still R3d from a few of the clips along with their matching RMD file and a matching JPG.
Feel free to download these frames and play with grading etc.
It's also ok to post your grades ONLY to Facebook RED camera groups or RedUser.com but you must include credit for the original image.
Images my not be used for any commercial use without written permission.

Nice shots Curtis.

Here are some RCX grades where I just tried to make the images look sort of 'normal' -

Thanks for letting us play with the Epic-W generated R3D's.

Nice work Les,, did you use the IPP2 color pipeline?

These where shot on low contrast / soft highlight roll off.
The nice thing about this pipeline is you can choose high contrast/ hard highlight rolloff
and achieve a similar look to what Less has.

Les nice job on the interview shot as that was very over exposed in camera.

Cheers

Thanks Curtis, I'm still using an older build of RC-X with DC2/RG4 as the basis for adjustments, but I'm definitely going to be using the new IPP2 workflow in the future. Love that Helium sensor.

Les,, DUDE!! ya gotta download the Beta version of RCX that matches the IPP2
work flow and try it out!!!

Using DC2/RG4 you've thrown away all of the benefits of IPP2.

Trust me,, try it,, you'll like it !

lol, I know, will get around to it soon.

Just had a look at the Beta.

Looks like there's nothing to lose using it from now on lol.

DC2/RG4 on the left, RWG/LOG3G10 (Low-Con/Medium Highlight Roll-Off) on the right -

And while I was there -

Wow, I'm really glad you guys can get some use and perhaps benefit from these images and the post.
And of course thanks for the kind words about the images. ( critiques are welcome too )

Aaron and Morgan, damn I love your grades! really nice stuff. would you mind sharing what you did to get there??

Yes IPP2 has totally transformed the camera, ... it's very cool.

BTW Les, thanks for putting my name on all of the images but that's really not necessary.
The credit thing I just meant that if they get posted in some other thread for some other reason
to just reference back to this thread, or if they got used someplace else for another IPP2 thread etc.

The big player in this is mostly just IPP2. I start with the medium/medium LUT at the end of the node tree and do all my grading before that. All that's before that node is a simple three parallel node structure.

Yellows were pushed a little toward orange/magenta, removing some of the green tinge they had. Blues were pushed a little cyan/green. The reds of skin (but not the entirety of skin) were pushed a little magenta for some fleshy liveliness.

Some slight saturation added in the last node with the LUT.

Processed at 800 ISO, 5600K, 0 tint. I think the single of the woman was 1000 ISO.

Aaron,
thank you very much for that grading lesson in resolve.
very generous of you

I'm curious about the 3 parallel node tree and how that's set up.
I'm assuming it's just the RGB split out?

I apply RED low con/soft LUT as the last nodes. All corrections/adjustments that node is basic curve adjustment, desat hi & low.
The first node, I did a very very slight offset adjustment push to magenta.
Then I adjusted the blues, magenta, and red saturation using hue vs sat.

No worries Curtis, wasn't sure what you meant about the credit thing (can't be too careful nowadays), and to be honest I was also just checking out how the text looked over those kinds of images, thanks again for the opportunity.

Nice grades too guys.

Thanks Morgan,, very interesting and great looking grade.

So let me ask, do you think you could get similar
results using RCx? I know some say it's ok for basic grades
and other say Resolve only.

Those early grades honestly feel super over-processed to me. that grade in post #11 is much nicer. You have such a beautiful source, you should keep that softness
