Is there any official word or expectations on when we'll see more options for shooting timelapse on the EPIC ? When will we have the options to shoot X Frames every X Seconds? etc....like on RED ONE? As well as more exposure control

All i have seen is option to shoot 12 frames/Sec.

+10000000000000000000

Time lapse and long exposure functionality can't get here fast enough!

Don't know if this is still the plan, but I recall something to the effect that Epic M wouldn't be fully functioned before the Epic X ships. If my memory is correct and that is still the plan, that could have something to do with when some options get up and running.

Double tap the FPS or press and hold and you'll get the detailed settings where you can go lower than 12fps.
If you're going to exposure times longer than 1/12th or so, then redo the black shading at that setting.
More timelapse functions coming later. The todo list is long...

Great! I was unaware of that function.....Thanks D

I completely overlooked it since it was not on the bar or window of selectable frame rates/exposure settings...WILL this always be the case now? double tap to get into NOT AS FREQUENTLY USED settings? or can we just scroll far left in the future?

The tap and hold just gets you into the precise settings mode. I dont want to have 7fps on the slider, but I can get there by going to 12 on the slider, then tap and hold and decrease the fps by 5. Same for the shutter - I dont want 186* as an option on the slider, but I want to be able to get there by using the slider and then going advanced.

BTW, I think Red should do the same with the kelvins - take out a few between 5500 and 4600, and between 4100 and 3400. If I really need 3600K, I can get to that precise one with the advanced menu.

very excited to experiment with these settings. I have a load of timelapse that I need to shoot, and I want to keep it all in R3D...thanks, Deanan!

Honestly, if it's on the slider and all i have to do is thumb through or on the redmote, turn the dial, then one less thing to do like double tap and it's always in front of you...agree, you won't need those settings most the time, but not a bother on the slider in my opinion. slide up or down or stay in the middle....if you never go down that far on the slider, then big deal, but it's there. Anyway, i'm sure this part of this discussion is a moot point and RED will work it out as they do....as this is way down the list of priorities.

I gotta respectfully disagree. Right now swiping from 5600k to 3200k takes a long time - like 8 swipes or so. Ive actually never done it because it takes so long. Id hate for every frame rate between 1 and 300 to show up - I dont have time to wait for 8 swipes to go from 24fps to 300fps. I think the way the slider now for FPS is perfect - the most used ones are there, and you can select the closest one and then modify with the advanced menu to get to the required FPS. I think they should do the same with the swipe for Kelvin, ..... whenever Red has a spare second.

At one point in the alpha cameras it could only go in 1 frame increments.
Painful...

In the future, we hope to be able to customize some of those elements so there'll be a better way to do it.

Deanan: Long Exposure times coming in the future ??

+1 - I sure hope so! That's one thing that still kills me about the RED One. It's like the one big missing feature that I could really use. And something every DSLR can do.

But most DSLR's have a manual shutter and not an Electronic shutter. I think that is the difference. Maybe it's a bit trickier to hold open and electronic shutter? I don't know.

Black shading at the opening you are going to capture at is also very important for clean images.

The shutter on a DSLR lets the cameras do a dark frame subtraction
automatically. Without that, it's way harder to do longer exposures
but it is something we are working on.
