  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic / Scarlet Firmware 3.3.4

There will be a small one this week to add support for the 512GB Turbo mags.. the next big one will be in a while as there is lots of new stuff coming in that one... Like Time Lapse, Speed Ramping, etc.

Power management sneaks in a bit every build.. we just never mention it... because when we add new features, most of the time its pushing the camera harder which means the power goes up, so anything we saved in power management gets evened out.

I've actually noticed this, I thought I was going crazy last shoot, redvolts seemed to last alot longer....

I'm glad I asked!! Thanks, Jarred!

I think thats a great idea Madjid. Fan noise and power consumption is a serious issue. It would be awesome if the camera could be put into a "sleep mode" that would allow power to be saved BUT the fan could still run allowing the camera temperature to be lowered. Recently did a job in the Tropics and the camera fan ran at 100% the entire time. It was like working with a hairdryer. Not looking forward to Summer. Fan noise is the most commonly commented on feature by clients " Is that noise your camera?"

Nice. Looks like my EPIC is going to be getting more... EPIC. Love the work you guys are doing to make my camera even better than it already is.

Thanks for the continual free upgrades!!!!

:))

Image flip would be awesome on the LCD as well.

Release build anytime soon? Would be very useful for my commercial shoots.

If you had a basic firmware that did nothing other than record a 5k format at 24fps would it save a tremendous amount of power? No other features, just turn on the camera and either hit record or turn off the camera.

Why does this beta have a lower version number than the previous two?

ha ha i had that debate with the engineers earlier. Apparently in the Engineering world, they dont round up. So 1.15 is bigger than 1.9 . No idea why.. Your guess is as good as mine.

It's a very common versioning scheme as you don't need to anticipate how many revisions will be coming in the future when you start numbering. It is not a decimal number, it is three version numbers that happen to be separated by decimals.

Apple uses the same scheme for OS X, iOS, and all their apps.
