  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC / SCARLET Beta Build 4.08

Not real ROM lenses issue,,, Not sure this qualifies as a bug,,,
but when I go in to the focus menu and set it to single....meaning a single tap of the REC button half way to start the auto focus process, it locks the camera.
This is only with a lens that has a dummy ROM on it. IE my lens is a Leitaxed Leica with a ROM that always says 55mm at 1/4. Reboot fixes but you cant use the single half tap with a lens that doesnt have a REAL ROM connection, and why would you as your lens probably doesn't auto focus anyway but just to be aware if you switch lenses from a real ROM to a dummy ROM, and it ends up locking the camera.

Still wondering where time lapse is. I thought it was included in build 4.

There are various recording modes you can choose from, including time lapse, from the new Recording dialog. Please refer to the first 4.0.x beta post for more information. We answered a lot of questions regarding time lapse and the other new features there.

Can you please direct me to that thread? No longer in recon.

Did you map the "Save UI Screenshot to Media" to a button? If so, which one?

The screenshots will be saved to the SSD if there is one in the camera.

Yes, I mapped it to Soft Key D.

No, the screenshots are *not* saved to the SSD. That was the point of my previous post.

Another bug that has just happened:
I went into Key Mappings to add another key, and when I clicked on the Menu button in the top right, the camera powered down.
No warnings, it just turned off. (And it is on AC, not battery).

Any ideas?

Just a small question : once the release build is out, is it considered safe and secure to use it on commercial productions or is it wiser to wait a little bit before ?

Thanks,

Kristin

Beta means; "YOU BETA NOT USE THIS IN CRITICAL SITUATIONS" :yesnod:

Was running 4.0.6 for all reshoots of Arrested Development. Just installed new beta and looking forward to testing.
Thanks for the hard work

OK biting my lip trying not to start asking you about "Arrested Development" my favorite show ever

I'm loving the integrated redmote firmware upgrade, just connect the redmote and the display will prompt you to upgrade, one button and you're there. I haven't used the cameras much since 4.0.8 and I have a big shoot this weekend, I'm holding my breath that all goes well. I'm hearing a lot about bugs but hopefully I can work around them

Bump!!!

Anyone there??

what happened to autofocus? Since 4.0.8 I can't use autofocus for any of my Canon EOS lenses...Is anyone experiencing this issue?

We had a couple issues today on set when the camera simply froze on this build and we lost all image to both the LCD and monitor out on the HD-SDI port. A restart fixed it -I say a couple because it happened twice.

And like some previous builds -when we take the default settings into RC-X Pro there's a -11.5 setting on the Tint, which if corrected to zero provides a green cast. I've seen this before and don't know why the default in camera is set to that.

We had a bit of an issue on set today -with the default side buttons on the hand grip my cam asst inadvertently hit the auto white balance button when trying to eject media...it was too dark to actually perform the auto white so there was a warning on the lCD and then the image had a magenta cast. We tried to use the setting in the LCD to change the WB manually but the magenta cast remained.

We powered up and down a couple times but that didn't change it, so we did a properly lit AWB and it corrected the magenta cast. Just an FYI.

Auto white balance sets both Kelvin and Tint. Adjusting the color temp through the top bar spinner only changes Kelvin. Next time go to th advanced color temperature dialog and set Tint back to zero. The advanced color temp dialog can be reached by long pressing on the color temp slot or by pressing UP when it is selected.
