Will there be a Epic S35 released or a Epic Light version? Since now, there is a Scarlet -X? I know it is a S35 sensor identical to the Epic-M but I was wondering if their would be up-coming Epic S35 (or whatever name they choose) with more frame rates than the Scarlet-X but lower than Epic-M?

Just getting a bit confused with some of these names and such?

There is Epic (M and X), and Scarlet X.
Epic is S35, Scarlet X is S35
Scarlet X could be considered "Epic light" or Epic's little sister.
Don't expect another model in-between.

Scarlet replaced EPIC-S. There's no room for another model between the two anymore.

Nothing to be ashamed about, as to why one get confused by all the names that have floated around.

Scarlet-X seems a bit lower spec'ed than the original Scarlet S35/Epic-S concept, but I'd say it is a safe bet that Scarlet-X is what it is at now.

Cool thing is that we don't have to scratch our heads and hold our breaths anymore. The cameras are built and will start delivery within short.

Now we know.

Okay...Good. I just would hate to hear an another announcement of a new camera (whatever name it shall be) but with more fps or with better HDRx™ flexibility. That wouldn't be so great since so many Scarlet lovers are not to happy with the current announcement because of the lower frame-rates or no 3K - 120fps or not fixed-lens stuff.

I think its a brilliant camera for the price, quality and interchangeability...you are getting. Bigger production budget...get the Epic-M or rent it.

Sorry, but why are you making such an authoritative claim that there won't be a model in between?

You may be right, but I for one, would love to see an EPIC S with 5K recording at 24-25 fps. To be truly compatible with EPIC X as a "B" camera, we should be able to record identical frame sizes and resolution, with the same FOV on lenses, etc. I'm less concerned about high frame rates in an EPIC S if I've got an EPIC X as my "A" camera (or "B" for that matter shooting high frame rates). The point is that Scarlet, while a great camera for the price, is not quite a full "B" camera or "little sister" to EPIC because it "only" shoots 4K instead of 5K.

Oh, and it should be a black body. Not gray ;)

(for the record, I have an EPIC X, and a Scarlet on order.... I just hope they'll announce that the EPIC S is still alive and well)

Because the only way to get an inbetween camera is to intentionally cripple a fully capable Epic. Remember that Scarlet is pretty much just Epic boards that couldn't handle the task of Epic specs.

Maybe, maybe not. We will see after Scarlet firmware gets hacked :p
