Okay, I wanted to post this here as well, as there is really something to be said about having a Great camera were even when life trows S^% at you, and you can only afford the absolute cheapest glass there is to go with your camera, which might be the last thing you posses and don't want opt sale...

Don't despair... There is always light at the end of that tunnel!!

And here you must take note that this shots were all hand held but one, and that there were shot on available light, at stops of 16 to 22, really at the worst of any lens right next to shooting WO on cheap lenses, yet I was very pleased with it, Focus also was done on the go manually (Rokinon do not have any AF and have no electronics in them for confirm focus either) so I am confident that on my next shot this lenses will bring a good result, and no one will ever say, oh that was hot on cheap lenses and does not look as good as if...

So, get what ever glass you can, and go SHOOT, your EPIC or Scarlet and of course even your R1 deserve it!!

Also to note that there is a very easy grading done to them, with time in and a good system to put it thru the paces this images would yield much greater results, I done this at a local Caffè since I was not yet set up at my new place in Modena.

And only this shot was done in this set up with the Rokinon 24mm @ 22

All other shots below were done with this set up using the Rokinon 35mm @16-22

BTW, I really did wish I had taken this with me, as the ET EVF mount by the end of the became heavy on my hand... ;)

Okay, here the rest of the shots as I said all hand held manual focus Run n' Gun, literally, so I know in a controlled environment this combination will achieve much better results.

Thanks Domenic, and yes that is a sweet little thing, but his new "Huayra" is just an insane wonder of modern technology, that and the new LaFerrari are my absolute two favorite super Exotics... Which I'll be shooting both soon... ;)

Thanks Ben, and that is a really nice shot as well!!

Looks great Ketch!

Thanks Robert!

Looks great guys! Recently purchased a set of 4 myself, and looking forward to do some shooting.

Is the warmish tint a characteristic of the lens or a grade?

Thanks John,

as far as the tint you see, I don't see it much on my shots, at list not on all of them, some of what you see on the Museum shots is because of their lighting, not the lens or the grading which there was none done to y shots, other then just a very minimum auto curve, and a bit of clarity on camera raw.

hello .nice photo
i have one question , are you happy of the range samyang ronikon like you have on your camera , because i have just the nikon mount more my Pl mount. and many nikon lens ,but i want try this because the image look really clean, and if full manual lens .

Dig the shots. Really interested in these lenses and the more pictures I see the more I'm interested, but my only question is how they look at 1.4, from what I've seen 2.8 looks good, but fully open it looks really soft. I'm just wondering if you sharpen your images shot at 1.4 or if you hardly shoot it wide open.

Hey Ketch, with all the great glass at you disposal I'm really curious why you would use Rokinon glass. Are these lenses really that good?

Nice shots Ketch!

I tested the Rokinons and was pleasantly surprised too. In no way on earth do they hold up against any cine lens or even cine-modded Zeiss, Nikon or Canon L series...not by a long loooong way...but there isn't anything like it price wise for a basic set of primes for shooting motion. They truly are great for the money, no question and an absolute given if you have little $ to spare and just want to shoot! Another good alternative is Nikon AiS glass which is just as cheap, far sharper and much less breathing all in a solid metal body with a classic old school look...they're just tiny. There's some great options out there for people on budgets and in the end everything looks fantastic if you use it right. Just get out there and shoot!

This was shot at 1.4 with the 85mm. Graded in photoshop with a little unsharp mask applied but not much.

anyone have opinions on the rokinon 85mm ?

Haven't used it yet Zak, we'll do next week and I'll post more shots of it here, but I'll be using it also for a short this month.

Happy? No, not even close to be happy, but I am content with what I can get now... ;)

Thanks Jason, this shots were all taken outdoors in daylight, full sun out, with no filtration, so the need for the lower ISO and closed aperture, however remmeber that a lens is weak both when wide open and shot close, so this shots will at list give an idea that the glass does hold well shot close even at 22, and that is a good thing.

As far as wide open shots, those will be coming next week... ;)

Hey Ketch, with all the great glass at you disposal I'm really curious why you would use Rokinon glass. Are these lenses really that good?

Hey Joe,

simple answer to your question really... I have sold all my glass (along with anything else of value not especially needed right now) so that I can Auto-Finance the start of my first Movie "R.O.A.B." with the hope to finish it via a possible Kickstarter campaign and some help form some companies till capturing the interest of a Studio.

So for this reason, in order not to stay with out any glass for personal use, I bough the cheapest glass available in the market as of today that had a cine style, and this were the Rokinon's, and while I am certainly terribly missing my Master Primes, I am not crying because of the reason I did it for it, but also the Rokinon are really not that bad at all, yet no one should ask how they do against the top cine primes... As the answers will be obvious to that question... ;)

Just stunning!

Thanks Chris!

Thanks Brigham, and as I said above yes, you are absolutely correct, in no way they can be compared to any other cine glass, but as far as been compared to cine modded Canon or Nikon, there is still a difference in favor of the latter, yet this do okay, but just never as good of course.

well done Monsignore ^^

I hope I can take my set out for a shoot this weekend.

Thanks Dominik, and I'll be checking back your thread to look for those shots too... ;)

That is a nice shot Greg.

Love the 85 as well as 24&35. All were my go to lenses on a current feature. Tokina 11-16, 100 macro and zeiss 50 macro were used for stylized and artistic choices. With the crop factor of 1.6 on the scarlet @ 4k(now upgraded to epic!) the 85 was really tight and sometimes was a pain. I would recommend the 85. After receiving my epic today I put the 85 on with the wider FOV and loved it

they are talking about releasing a 50mm in 2014 btw
