My Epic-X 00274 has a reel number problem! For Example:When i take a SSD card with number A001 out off the Epic and inset SSD card with number A002 ,it will show in RCX pro A002 as card, but shows in the maps as A001-C001 and so on.
Normal it should show A002-C001....Whenmaking copy's it very difficult to check if everything is compleet! Do i have to use Utill format both cards or is it a bug? build 17.10. former build no problems!!
Thanx Robert
Epic-X 00274 and R1 MX 1625.

Reported Bug - just change manually

chang manually

chang manually

Reported Bug - just change manually
I can only change manually by formating and that is what i don't want. I keep on changing 2 ssd cards because of making a back-up of one card while shooting with the other card and vise versa during the day. Has everybody this problem?

With build 2.0.x EPIC/Scarlet internally track the reel number, camera id and camera position.
In 1.6.42 and before, the reel number was tracked on each piece of media.

How the format dialog currently works in 2.0.x:

The reel number, camera id, and camera position shown in the Format dialog represent the current camera settings
With each format, the reel number will increment by 1 unless the user specifies a new reel number.
The current camera id and position shown in the dialog will be used to format the media.
Note: if the camera is internally set to reel number 1, the next formatted card will be formatted as reel number 2.

How the Set dialog currently works in 2.0.x:

The reel number, camera id, and camera position shown in the Set dialog represent the current camera settings
You can manually set the next clip's reel number, camera id or position using this dialog.
These settings will affect the next recorded clip, but will not modify the current media's volume name or .RDM folder.

The clip name shown in the UI represents the next clip that will be recorded.

So TheBied, you're saying this is NOT a bug, but an intentional change in reel number tracking??

Can you tell us why this change is beneficial? And more importantly was not flagged in release history - it's a significant change. Even Sean R. (Bomb Squad) was not aware:

When alternating mags without reformatting, it's a massive pain to have to manually use Set to increment Clip Reel numbers after each mag swap - and more importantly introduces a source for mistakes!!
The old behaviour was much preferred for this common way of working.

Hate to say it, but the way Arri Alexa does it is nice, but I'd settle for the old behaviour!

You can use Finder/Explorer and sort by creation date/time to check you've copied everything, but yes, it makes backing up unnecessarily stressful, and life for editors more complicated.

Yeeeeshhh...really making problems where there were none before.

I'm a stage 3'er and this would really throw a wrench into my workflow on set. If offspeed shooting is required on the day I typically have the assist format a mag for 4k 16:9 (24fps) and one for 2k 2:1 (overcrank). It makes the post side so much easier than having a jumble of resolutions and aspect ratios on the same mag.

I hope this feature/bug (depending on point of view) is corrected soon.

The intent of the description above is to illustrate the current behavior as of build 2.0.8.

We'll have an update that adresses this problem shortly.

Thanks for clarifying!

I had this numbering issue and it really messed up a shoot. I thought it was a bug. The clip number should be tracked based on media. Any other way is DANGEROUS! imho
