  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC... ready.

I expect that this will be a highly read post. Given that... I'd like to go on record that there are many faithful and dedicated people at RED that have worked tirelessly on this project and everyone needs to know how much effort they have put forth. If we ever earn respect in the industry for this work, many are responsible. There are many whose names people will never be heard. Many who have joined the fight because the challenge was worthy. My hat is off to the RED Army... every one.

Jim

Even though this isnt the end of the Red movie.. Perhaps its a good time for some red army credits? You and everyone else deserves to be credited for you hard work and achievement!

Jim, simply fantastic.

Many of us here have witnessed this program from the beginning, and it is wonderful to see fellow passionate souls see their creative visions come to fruition.

You are a true inspiration in so many ways, be it in technology development or business development...

Thanks for the first Chapter, looking forward to next!

Just in case you guys want to take a look at me holding Epic :)

Anyone care to comment? Thanks :)

Anyone care to comment? Thanks :)

If someone from the Red team could chime in.

Although a little large, will the offset of the Red/Arri 15mm base plate work with the epic? Or will there be a new accessory to mount for dovetails?, when the epic is configured for studio.

What a great age we live in. Really excited to put it in my hands and take it for a test. Good thing red was always my favorite color anyway :)

Thanks

I had a feeling the silence would be broken by an announcement like this.

Great news guys!

Nice SSD in the photo, Marcus!

Awesome

Awesome

Wonderful News!

Congratulations to Jim and all on Team Red. Can't wait until the day you'll take my money in return for a Scarlet (and the sooner the better :smile5:)

Nice, but where do you put the battery ?

in the side handle, which his other hand is holding on to.

I guess you guys have never seen the left grip before now :)

How do you think How many Epics can be produced in a the first year? Aprox like RED ONE? Maybe 1000-2000 items in the first year? It is very important because there is not enough to release Epic it is need to get possibility to buy it in 2011! I think not all of us will be lucky to buy it in 2011!

Pretty sure it's only through RED. I think Scarlet was initially going to be available through some retailers, but that was before the whole 'everything has changed' stage, so I think it may be only available from RED as well.

That suits me though - I've heard about RED's great customer support, and I'd much rather be buying straight from RED than paying twice the US price through some Australian distributor (in the last two years, the Australian dollar has gone from 0.60 US cents to now being at parity with the US$ but it seems that a lot of importers/distributors are just taking a bigger profit instead of making things cheaper).

Also, that's a great thing about Scarlet delays - if it had been released a year ago, it would have cost me far more because of the currency difference!

Ditto. I ONLY want to buy Scarlet through Red, and not some Australian distributor that charges at least 50% higher than the US :iagree:

Ya hoo and dam. Been working on a job where there is no helicopters in southern Argentina that will allow us to use big cameras,, RED, and the other companies,, Anyone have a answer Im all ears PM me.
and so I just yesterday went out and layed out for a 5Dm2,, I know its like sac religion but Im the DP and had to do something. Needed to update my old 5d anyway, I only hope I get to lay out some coin soon for my Epic.
Cant wait. It would have been the perfect solution for this small aircraft problem. This is why I tell my DP friends why they are making the Epic the size of a DSLR, small enough for other problems to be solved.
Thank you Jim great news.
