Hi,

maybe I could ask for some budgetary advice about the Epic at this very competent forum?

What I'm looking for:
An Epic camera that can be used hand-held and on a tripod - ergonomically set up for film production, not still or fashion videos. What items do I need, do we know the prices?
I already have a bunch of v-mount IDX 10 batteries. Is it a good idea to use them?
I would need a nice mattebox and a nice follow focus. Second hand is a good option for me.

Down the road:
Lenses that can transmit metadata to the Epic. Are Cooke Panchros the best option (performance/price)? Any other solutions on the horizon?

Best regards,
Jon Michael

BTW: From what I've read it seems like the RED lenses does not have an electronic-interface, is this correct? Is the Epic /i compatible?

all currently available RED lenses are manual, ie. no electronic interface
RED electronic lenses are expected in the coming months/years

Do you know if the Epic is compatible with the /i interface on the Cooke-lenses?

My friend has an Epic and Cooke Panchros. Every time I've used them together the Epic says I have a 48mm lens on the camera despite which lens I am using, but the focus distance meter is right on. Maybe a future firmware update is needed? Anyone else have similar findings? BTW, the Epic + Panchros is a killer combo! I'll post examples soon :)

Thanks for the informative answers so far. Looking forward to seeing the examples from the Panchros and the Epic.

If metadata is crucial for my use, is the Epic-Panchros combo the way to go - if the communication glitch is fixed? Or is there any cheaper alternatives I should consider? I'm not too keen on electronic still lenses....
