  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic power

well, i suppose we could run red bricks all the way across... how long is this wall? is it that big that you're calling it epic?

;)

haven't heard yet... all we heard was that it works well and runs a long time...

Batteries in the grips

Batteries in the grips

I'd shoot handle batteries and carry a few. Jarred would choose a RED Brick and put it on his belt.

Jim

Jim, would it be attractive to Red to put cylindrical batteries in the grips for more operating time, but still keeping things portable? Perhaps down the track?

I second the question - anyone can confirm the power consumption of the Epic?

I am curious indeed how long the Red Brick (170w) lasts on an Epic.
Hopefully Jarred can give us the numbers soon!

George

Based on what we have done, 3 RED Bricks will run the basic rig for a FULL day of shooting and have life to spare. That's what I've seen so far.

We looked at that :-)

Doesn't work. For same kind of reasons that any old CF isn't up to the task of .R3D recording either.

I just had a great thought. I'm sure could be done by a 3rd party. Have the RED Brick Mount plate attached to a blank epic module. Basically the module is at the end of the chain and the brick attaches to it. powers for a long time, compact, uses our existing batteries.

Redmote will have to be remote though.

Basically this, but the battery is right on the brain.

You guys must have a lot of fun trying all these things. I was actually thinking of a custom fit, long, lithium battery, that could singularly slot into as much of a custom grip as possible and be used purely as additional, portable power to the current portable set-up. With so much on your plate, it could be a down the track thing... Possibly?
