  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC OUTFITTING - POST YOUR EPIC RIGS WITH DETAILS PLEASE

Hello Patrick,
configuration created by me.

-shoulder TILTA http://www.tilta.com/product/d-39-_en.html
-monitor arm TILTA http://www.tilta.com/product/d-36.html
-matebox 450R2 Super Wide Chrosziel (you can mount any lenses, still or PL and big zoom)
-followfocus GENUS (but do not love it)
-hands Cavision (smaller and lighter)

You are a 2 hour drive from me, if you want to try.
I speak French well!!

Bumping this thread because the holidays are coming and I've got some spending cash. Post your rigs pretty please.

good idea's Patrick. More often then not most HH solutions are too tall, and top/front heavy. This is going in the right direction... down and rear weighted. Then the next issue is how to get on and off a tripod easily and re-balance.

Wow... this seems a long time ago... ;-) I'm actually designing a shoulder mount based on arri dovetail and some sliding elements that permits to adapt the weight repartition as you like depending on config and going from handheld to tripod within 2-5 seconds. But putting my shoulder where I drawed it, it will make the rig too front heavy. The best Head/eye position would be near the Epic Brain (next to the focus mark). I'll try to make a prototype but won't go into production as like with the FanPlate, people like it a lot but won't buy into it.

Daniel, that´s very cool. I think we spoke a while back about backpacks. I found the smallest possible one that I can drag to the mountains with a fully assembled EPIC that is ready to shoot. It´s a Haglofs (Swedish brand). I´ll try to post some pics here soon

Here's the new top handle by SmallRig (purchased on Amazon). I love how I can mount the 5" touch screen to the top of the handle (on the cold shoe mount)

Daniel that is awesome.
Can I ask what your review on the WC shoulder mount is? I am about to bite the bullet on one.

Thanks,

Hi Jordan, I really like the x shoulder mount, however I find it to be a bit heavy. I am actually selling mine if you are interested, just don't use it very often. Here is the thread with price on the shoulder mount: https://vimeo.com/89149698

I prefer these two handles for shooting handheld with the epic:

http://x.com/RED/Handles-RED/Side-Handle-Leather.html

I will try and post pics soon of how I set this up with the 100mm nato rail and how the screen mounts onto handle with 70mm nato rail, pretty cool setup indeed.

Joachim would be interested in a photo of your epic backpack rig for sure.

Cheers!

Finally got my camera back from rental so I can now test and feel my new Schneiders Xenons on my setup. The wait was worth it.

I figured I would try reviving this thread. Always cool to see how people run their Epics.

Here's my Dragon all grown up. I will replace the O Connor O Box with a Bright Tangerine Strummer at some point but for now, this will work just fine.

Movcam Bridgeplate, Dovetail, Top Plate, Top Handle, EVF/Monitor Mount
