  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC or SCARLET ???

It's seems odd that comparisons in this thread are all about fps. Would I be wrong in stating that my first port-of-call in deciding whether scarlet fixed or epic
on a particular project would be sensor size/dof?

No. Not for the fixed Scarlet.

But you'll get the same sensor size on the S35 Scaret as you'll get with the Epic.

If you're comparing the S35 Scarlet vs Epic, fps, computing-intensive tasks, and possibly compressionrates are some of the differences.

The Scarlet seems to be a little bit lighter , too - which can be good for some uses.

If you are comparing Epic with the fixed Scarlet, the Scarlet has so many advantages/disadvantages/different applications over/under Epic (depending on your POV), that I'd be surprised if most Epic owners don't also buy a fixed Scarlet...

One fun thing I will be looking foreward to are those who pick up EOL'd pro-35 adaptors and mount them on the fixed Scarlet... -:)

Well.. Thanks for that guys.
EPIC it is for me then.. Since I have 2x STAGE II's booked and paid for, I say I'm in a good seat. But if the scarlet starts to grow more hair around its nuts (but getting EPIC options) .. I may get a couple of those too.

Thanks Guys, Thanks RED.

As a backpack shooter all what I would need at the first point is a lightweight camera, something between weight of 7D and 5DMK2.

Jim already mentioned that EPIC has weight almost as a Hasselblad...plus you would need a lens, +++...

...and all the thing with weight is blowing up at the end...

So Scarlet S35 should be a lighter but we still do not know anything about it...

Also to tell something to people who are "hooked" in 5K slow-motion plus HDRx that they would need a sort of monster power

machines probably something like a Clipster to get real-time encoding and playback (5K Slo-Mo 120 fps with extra HDRx...).

That's is little bit beyond of small kiosk like a mine....I'm more for 24 fps plus HDRx...

Still did not make any decision and just thinking...
