  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic new date

Question: What other camera company has stated they are developing a camera anywhere in the ballpark of the capabilities of the Epic?

Answer: Zip

So, why don't all the complainers just ZIP IT?
My MX is beyond amazing. Epic is like Sci-Fy becoming reality.

Red didn't ask for anyone to pay fully in advance until there camera is ready for shipping, simply asked for a deposit to indicate a commitment. And as always, you can get the deposit returned. This is actually a common practice on many large ticket, specialized, limited production or handmade items throughout the world, houses, automobiles, art, custom fabrications, et cetera.

wait.. not the end of the world...

I am part of the 3.5 upgrade program and judging by my experience with RED I suspect it will take another year (and more) until I have EPIC in hand. I just hope its a few months before 2012 so I can film the end of the world at 100fps...

I must say RED's business strategy is a little confusing at first, which drives customers unfamiliar with the company up the wall, but eventually, all in due time, you become a fan...

its like waiting for the dealer for hours, but knowing that the Kush you heard about from your friend Jim is going to make it all worth while ;)

RED is taking over the industry by giving the power to professionals... while creating a hole in Hollywood's fabric of space and time... enabling true talent emerge out of no where... sooooo *cough* *cough*... lets wait ;)

PAYMENT IN FULL????

Did i miss something? Never got that email yet asking to pay RED in FULL. I'm on stage 2 with two cameras....and paid a $5k deposit, Can ANYONE please tell me if there was a recent email or something asking for our full and final payment? If so, i completely missed that.

......where would we see something like this if we have not been trolling around on the forums?

PLEASE......some info would be appreciated. Guess i have to phone RED now. Was totally unaware of payments in full being asked for.....

John, you didn't miss anything. All that has been required at this point is the deposit.

Red has my stage 2 cash paid in full. I'll take delivery when Jim says.
If I understand well, instead of pay only the deposit, Jeff paid the full amount... But I could be wrong.

I don't know if this option was available

Where does this come from? Jeff....you had me startled AND likely others in stage 2 that NEVER got THAT email asking for payment in full......In fact your post here made me call RED just now asking if they required my full balance of payment and i was informed that they have NOT yet asked for anything more than the $5k deposit.

Kind of a scary post you put here.....unless you for some reason have a special arrangement with RED and have for whatever reason paid in advance for a camera with specs and prices that likely can/will change. Anyway, does not seem like how RED does business---collecting $$ until product is complete.

anyway, glad that minor heart attack is over......

Johnny, there are many reasons for someone to pay in full this far in advance.

Some are taking advantage of a good exchange rate, some just need to avoid the temptation of spending it elsewhere!

yes, totally understand.....but the framing of the email had me believing that the poster was upset since he had paid in full....therefore leading me to the conclusion that he was upset since he was asked to pay in full---etc.....and of course being out of the country and knowing that emails can get misplaced or not arrive at all.....speculation that i missed a grand announcement and was to have paid in full.....Anyway, now I know. But the logic still follows then that since it was posters choice to pay in full....what is full is not yet even known since things can change, but can you really be annoyed or upset about dates (since the post SORT of implies he's upset since he has a lot of $$ out of pocket as of now) if it was his decision to pay in full? ....guess what he means to say is that he placed a LARGE deposit on account with RED rather than paid for camera in full....no?

Just curious ... will Stage 3 not be opened up until after Stage 2 is totally
delivered? Or sooner?

I doing a Red One lease (similar to what Ketch helps people with) where
I would purchase the Stage 3 Epic from the owner at cost ...

Hopefully, Stage 3 opens soon -- we are ready with the $5000 or $10,000.
:lurk5:

Thanks!

Anthony

Hey guys, didn't mean to cause a freak out. I paid in full because I wanted to streamline the process when the Epic is ready to ship. I have no problem with Red hanging onto my money, I trust them completely and I have tremendous faith in what they're doing and how they're doing it. And personally, I found Jim to be a stand up guy.
