I just posted a cut of a music video for a song by Julia Holter. It's cut from shots I grabbed while traveling through Northern Spain and Portugal in September. I used Kippertie's Infrared filter for a lot of it. I had a very minimal package with the Zeiss 15mm 2.8, 35mm 1.4, 135mm 2.0 and a Leica 50mm .95 Noctilux. I cut it in resolve and did a light grade there as well. I'll put out a 4k version when I upgrade to the pro version of resolve later in the year and I may tweak the grade at that point. The vimeo compression did a number on it here and there, but I think that much of the beauty still comes through. I hope you enjoy it! Would be happy to hear feedback from the community.

Not to be that guy, but there is a single black frame at 2:01? Beautiful stuff though.

Nice but not sure how the music relates to the visuals. With that song you need to have images of the human experience or some moody looks. Also thinking maybe George Hurrel or something abstract. This seemed to be a travel log that didn't connect to the soul of the song IMHO

That said, would have done more to show off the IR and Mono extreme capabilities and distinctive look. The shots looked like straight B&W but without a "look" or POV . . . some low con - some normal con. No real grading theme I could detect

That song would have been good with a blue duotone or some artsy split toning. You have Resolve so this could be done ez breezy.
Like Blue and Red . . . each having emotional significance to reinforce the story or where you want to move the audience ;-)

Doesn't really relate to your vid but just re-watched that movie recently. Lushes

Sorry if that all is a downer but this isn't a kids soccer forum where everybody gets praise ;-)

Thanks, Nick! Means a lot to garner praise from someone who posts so much lovely work here in the forums.

Thanks to Scot as well for pointing that out.

Zeb, good point on maybe going a bit punchier and more consistent with the grade when I do the 4k output. I'm new to resolve, but it's a lot of fun.

Going to miss my epic monochrome, but not as much as I'm going to enjoy the weapon monochrome I swapped it for!

They exist only as an upgrade for epic monochrome owners. I think it is still tbd if they will offer them for purchase. If you want to buy one, I would make that known to your rep so red can note the demand. If you want to rent one hit me up!

Been getting a few PMs about the carbon weapon monochrome that's been delivered so thought I would post a bit more info on that. I had an epic-m dragon monochrome. When they made the weapon announcement at NAB last year, I put down a deposit to upgrade that unit to weapon carbon (and also prepaid for the VV 8k upgrade). Before allocation, my rep reached out to let me know that they were offering upgrades to carbon weapon monochrome only to existing epic monochrome owners and I confirmed that monochrome was what I wanted to upgrade to. The wait was significantly longer than it would have been for a regular carbon weapon and it finally shipped about 2 weeks ago. My rep has not been able to confirm that I will eventually be able to upgrade to 8k but has suggested that it is overwhelmingly likely that I will be able to do so eventually.

I have been tied up with big shoots for the last couple of weeks, but I'll have a bit more time coming up and will get to start putting this camera through its paces. I'll do my best to share my findings with the community.

Also, I would love to hear from any monochrome scarlet owners in the NYC area. It's good to know who is holding and I have a couple of potential multicam b&w shoots on the horizon.

Please let me know if there are any questions related to the monochrome weapon that you would like answered.
