Hi All,
Im in Singapore, (actually im in Jakarta now doing meetings) going back to Singapore on saturday... but while in Singapore a couple of days ago for our tec recci, I decided to shoot a few test shots off with the gaffa to see what sort of lighting we may require... It was so dark in some areas, we could not even see peoples faces with our own eyes. The buildings were bright, but the actual area we will be shooting peoople in was black !
The gaffa an I both thought we had to bring in a lot of light to combat the low light... The Epic monochrome comes out, turn it on, swing it up to 2000 & 4000 asa in th dark of night and BOOM !!!!!
Jaws dropped all round... We can see in the dark.... Phuc... The shoot just got real easy all of a sudden.

There is some grain coming through, but considering how much I was pushing the files....it's nothing worth crying to your mum over.

Mark,

I like that you get the camera and then you show us images.
I like that. That is good.

We get a sense of what it can do and your talent behind the images.

Your testing is very trustworthy and rational.

Thanks for posting.

It's like "night vision". Really impressive!

"See in the dark," like you, I love the sound of that. Put those new "nighthawks" and WAM!

So the stills looks nice, but what about video? What about the noise?

Thanks Mark.

Mark these images are really telling. So jealous you've got the camera to mess with whenever you like, it's an unbelievable little beast.

Will, I will finally edit a little night monochrome piece this week so you guys can see how the noise moves... it is beautiful, completely unlike anything I've ever seen.

In the mean time if someone can provide hosting for an R3d or suggest a good place, I'd be happy to put one up somewhere.

How many Gigs do you need? I can create a folder on my FTP for you to use all you like.

Noise beautiful?!?! :)

Some noise was there... but nothing crazy
4000asa is a bit like the EPIC X at 1600.

Very cool. I know I am missing the point with this comment, but I like the darker images. Nice that you can retrieve so much information though.

Purely a test for our up incoming shoot... nothing more.
When I do a final grade, Ill be crushing it in areas to give me even more mood.
