Hey all, while working as DIT on a shoot today, I had an Epic go down because the menus on the 5" Touch LCD and Redmote locked up and the AC and I were unable to get control back. The touch LCD was missing the secondary menu/padlock button that would normally indicate that the screen had been manually locked. We could still start and stop recording on the camera, but we had no other control.

I was able to temporarily correct the issue by flashing the latest firmware onto the camera. About ten minutes later, the issue came back (but this time the secondary menu button was still visible; the screen was not manually locked).

The camera is an Epic X with a 5" touch LCD connected to the Brain, a 7" RED LCD attached to a Pro I/O module, and two other video feeds running out of SDI. The issues started while switching the two SDI outputs on the Pro I/O.

After flashing the firmware, the solution we found was to disconnect the 7" LCD and use only the 5" touch. However, we really wanted to have two displays on the camera for the operator and AC. We found that (for now) both displays work as long as the LCD/EVF outputs from the Pro I/O set to the lowest priority in the Display Priority menu. I'll update if that changes.

My question to all of you, has anyone else experienced issues with the menu freezing on firmware 4.0.12, and if so, have you found any definite fixes for it? Thanks!

We found that (for now) both displays work as long as the LCD/EVF outputs from the Pro I/O set to the lowest priority in the Display Priority menu. I'll update if that changes.

Just to clarify, the priority setting is only used to determine which monitor is used as the control surface. That is, if you have LCDs plugged into both the brain and PRO I/O the one with the highest priority would be the control surface.

I would suggest opening a support ticket and sending in a log file as the behavior you described does not sound normal.

Just got exactly the same problem, only thing that sorts it is a firmware re-install. I've mailed my bomb squad rep, please keep me updated on your situation.

I have a ticket open with Red Tech Support for it now, but no definitive answers. In my case, setting the touch LCD to highest priority and the second Red display to lowest seemed to prevent it from locking up again.

Any news? Just had a RedMote lock upon me. Looking for remedies.
