EPIC M updates?

When do we expect to get the heat sink changed, and other changes that make red accessories useable on Epic M.? I recently purchased Tactical top plate only to find it is useless for my Epic M. Has Red forgotten about us M purchasers? ....maybe it could be made clear on the red store that the top plate isn't going to fit Epic M?

...I'm guessing that RED will tackle this once all of the Stage-3.x people are taken care of and they're no longer bringing in a ton of RED Ones to work with.

You could be right Jeff. However my feeling is that we should not be on the back burner. Owning an Epic M should not make me feel at a disadvantage, I bought mine when Epic X was not being delivered due to the tragedy in Japan, it was , as we know, significantly more expensive than the Epic X. With the issues of gate flare and accessories not fitting, it won't be long in our small business ( here in the UK ) before DP's are requesting the X over the M. I really feel that RED should have been quicker off the mark with this and look after us a bit more.

i bought 2, one i sold to a reduser in UK, the other is going back to RED.

The Viewfactor full metal jacket top replaces the M heat sink cover and makes the M as fully functional as the X.

Not entirely compatible though - the Red top plate has a different thickness and hence the red / VF side arms are not really interchangeable.

Yeah, I know, but I got the FMJ long before Red announced their version so that's never been a problem.

I heard from someone at Red today that the heat sinks are not ready. I really want to get mine changed out.

I have 2xMs and would love the new heatsink but I caution against Red rushing... Getting the parts just right, from a design and QC pov, 'may' help with the noise. We'd love to hear a reduction in fan noise and if not definitely no increase in level.

Just make sure if you order from VF and have the EPIC-M that you MAKE SURE TO order the M plate.. The EPIC-X top is different than the EPIC-M (learned the hard way)

No one has forgotten about M owners here. We are putting finishing touches on the updating program as there are a lot of i's to dot and t's to cross on it. We want to make sure you have as little time as possible without your camera. To ensure that, we have to make sure the process is as dialed in as possible before rollout.

PS, AFAIK, the TACTICAL TOP PLATE still works with M. You just bolt it on at two mounting points instead of the four you would on an X. Plenty of people with Ms mounting as such right now.

And for those also complaining about the Tactical Top Plate, it does work fine with the M as Brent says. Of course, it will be better after the upgrade when we can use the extra bolts.

Thanks for the update Brent. To be honest it's a shame it takes a thread like this before an update is forthcoming, it would have been good to hear something sooner as this Epic M upgrade has been looming for a good while now?

If that's the official line on the tactical top plate, and 2 bolts is the suggested route then that's fine by me?

So what would be a rough estimate on the start of the upgrade programme for the Epic M?
