Hi guys, I sent an inquiry for the m on the red store. Does anyone know how long it takes to find out if you are approved to place an order?...Thanks

maaaaaaaaaaaate.......... weeeeeellll..

Firstly, Welcome to the RED Forum. :)

Regrading your EPIC "M" You will get a email from RED to say your in a (long) list and will be informed when your M is ready. (only GOD and Jannard (who owns RED) will ever know when you will actually receive your camera)

I booked in for a EPIC "M" on day one of the release and have been waiting ever since. I think October last year. Maybe earlier... cant remember.
The Japanese disaster has slowed dramatically RED's plans to get cameras out on time. So there is a major parts delay. Nobody really knows when, without guessing.
We are all in a holding pattern and we have learnt over the years not to get our hopes up as release dates have never been made on time. (Even though RED have tried very very hard)

Now! If your James Cameron (pretending to be John Jacaman) .. you will probably receive your camera next week... If your like the rest of us. You will receive an EPIC well before your "M".

Have a good scout through the forum, You will find all you need to know about EPIC's progress and were you may fit in the food chain. I think once RED finds new suppliers EPIC's will start to roll out over the next 4 to 6 months. (hopefully earlier). ... Someone here may know more and will respond.

Have fun, It's a great place with a lots of great people here to share and learn from, All the RED dudes from the Boss down get on for yarn now and then, so you do get lots of first hand knowledge.

It's quite addictive :).

Thanks Mark....Guess I will just have to wait!!..:(

Mark ... buddy ... your posts are paining me. I mean that kindly. Because I can feel
how badly you want your M and it comes through your every word. So when I say
"paining" it means I can truly feel how much it hurts you.

And while it's probably not the best strategy, to keep bringing up your desire/lack of
an Epic on the forum -- if I remember, even Jim may have written "stop whining"
before to you (or maybe it was the other Mark) -- I can only imagine what it's like
to KNOW how killer of a job you can do with the Epic, to have the funds available, and
still not be able to get one into your hands.

As you've demonstrated before, you've done a lot for Red adoption in post houses
and elsewhere, you're one of the earliest R1 buyers, and you're amazing shooter who
will showcase the Epic well ..... so it's only a matter of time.

Keep the faith man and I'm sure your patience will be rewarded :)

strongly disagree. 5k, color science, superfast boot up, hdrx.. as much as I love my Red One (it is still working in Vietnam great), the Epic aint the "same camera."

Have to agree with Tonaci on this one.

I have to agree with Tognaci too. While a MX Red One remains a potent player, the Epic M and X are the best all around digital cinema cameras ever made*

To me the small form factor is undeniable - it massively changes the ways which you can work for the better.

*OK - There's higher frame rate ( Phantom ), w/o HDRX arguably sort of better D.R. ( Alexa ) with HDRX fuhgetaboutit don't even take it out of the case.

Well. How to respond to this...

I've written several paragraphs justifying why I keep reminding RED that I'd like an EPiC. M.
And wrote several paragraphs of what I supply to this forum and (off forum) countless background support (free) to Red camera owners and post house people.
But I deleted it, because I was writing angrily.

I'm going to stop both the forum support and the "whining" from here on in and just sit back and wait for my "X"s.
Being told to shutup by my peers and being ignored by Red is about all I need to acknowledge the facts.

I've calmed down. Taken a breath and now moving on happily.

Thanks guys. Sorry for tha pain.

Hey Mark, I should have clarified -- didn't mean to imply "shut up" -- my post was more empathizing with
what you must be feeling. And just pointing out why some of your constant reminding "may" (I can't say
for sure) be slightly counterproductive to your case.

And what I hoped to make clear that you are an incredible shooter, an early adoptor, a Red evangelist, and
just a great guy -- you deserve it, and I'm sure it will come. I know the wait is a bitch. And I for one REALLY
hope you can get it before your Dubai shoot, but it's not in my hands :(

I'd hate to miss out on your "forum support" and cool things you share mate, so please I hope you stick
around ....

Anyway, hope that's clear man -- you are appreciated and not just by me or other users here, I'm sure it goes
all the way to the top of the Red organization.

Soon mate. Soon. It's just a matter of time ... tick tock, tick tock :)

Mark, throwing the towel is even worse! Your posts are among the best of the best on this forum, and my personal faves, and you always crack me up with that omnipresent layer of sarcasm. I'm a big fan and I've never interpreted your impatience for anything else than passion. Too many people here try and be Jim's pets and always say the perfect things (when not speaking FOR him...). You're a pro with character and humor, dry and sardonic. I love it man! Your posts are like James Bond's martinis: Shaken, not stirred.

imho you should get one.
i would be interested in your conclusions.

Mark, I think you see everyone here really values you as someone who knows your stuff, cares, brings so
much benefit to this little place.

Again, I'm SURE it's only a matter of time and Jim Cameron's huge M order probably slowed everyone else getting
one ... if you notice we've only seen a few people get M's in the last 30 days or so, and those were probably in
the works since before day one.

Patience mate ... Cameron may need you to show him a thing or two once he's ready to start shooting :)

Anthony

I am rooting for ya Mark!!! hopefully RED will get an M to ya soon....always like your work. We need to start a Tola Epic canpaign.

Mark hang in there. Your posts really belong to the best in here. Your work too.
As soon jim has one left, I'm sure he'll give it to you. I would.

Like a friend of mine said it right a few days ago... as soon as we all have our Xs all the waiting pain will be forgotten really really fast.
Yeah but right now it's a big pain. I feel it too.

Cheers Mate
