More of a lurker here, don't post too often but thought some folks might be interested in the viability of this idea. Took my Epic-M into Madison Square Garden the Saturday night to work on some promos for MSG Network. We shot all sorts of configs over a few days and did part of the project on a Varicam2700. We rented a super35 optical adapter from Abel for the Epic and got very interesting results. The adapter drops a couple stops and vignettes but it was surprisingly sharp. We shot a Fuji23x for the game and had to shoot mostly through glass so its pretty hard to judge the sharpness of much of the game footage but i threw on my Canon HJ14x4.3BIASE from my Varicam2700 and shot my parrot right quick today and pulled a frame. It was pretty sharp. Not a tech test and im going to test some more but it has me reconsidering the future of broadcast lenses some. im first in line for the canon 5k pl mount lens with broadcast servos. There is a link next to the image to see the full size image.

I shoot some sports, doc, and reality and its really hard to get the volume of usable shots on film or photo lenses when you don't know what is going to happen next. Shooting playoff hockey specialty shots on my optimo is hard when we were trying to keep it lean to be able to change positions several times in a period and sometimes some stuff in the hallways between periods too. The fuji 23x and Ange26x broadcast zooms give a nice shallow look when they reach out and the shots looked pretty sharp. Ive seen some of the stuff we shot through the hockey glass which is always a mess but Ill look closer at the footage we shot on the ice during the anthem and warmups and post some grabs if anyone cares to see just how sharp.....

oh and btw....Fuji announced the 19-90 broadcast style pl mount yesterday for 40k. Removeable grip and servos, covers 5k.

And they've got more coming at NAB...."He hauls off and whacks one...big hitter, the LLama, LONG!..." (caddyshack)

Just what I need - a lense 4x the price of my Scarlet...
oy.
