So the update on the other thread i started 3 days ago is that we shot an average of 2tb per day for the remaining three days of that job. now that it is over i can talk about it a little since i am not physically there now.

(mark unfortunately taught us all a lesson about not disclosing our current exact location on these boards)

so we were in brooklyn at brooklyn studios, a great place by the way, joe the owner is quite an interesting character.

anyway, we were shooting a piece for the annenberg photography museum in LA and the final piece will be exhibited there in a 4k theatre that was purposefully built.

The Dp was Malik Sayeed, a great guy and very talented Cinematographer. the bottom line is we pushed the EPIC to a place i do not think it has ever gone before, we literally rolled for 8 hours each day in 40 minute bursts, at 5:1 which maxes out the 256 cards. it was card after card after card, i think we ended up going through over 50 mags.

there was not one problem with the camera, it was a true champion. we also rolled with two r1's ( including poor old red #0031 which is spending an awful lot of time in her case these days..she had a good run) and one of the r1's ( from a rental house) had some over heating issues here and there mainly because it was very hot in the studio and also because the camera had a lot of gear on it, so the EPIC out performed the 42 month old R1...quite a feat!

alright just wanted to give you an update and share the joy of having the experience of EPIC-M #00087 blow our minds.

In salt lake now for a few hours and then back to the east coast...we are shooting a continuation of the job i was on in vegas.

Thats some serious data throughput Dino, I think I would even be stretched to be working with 2TB a day and I'm a ex-IT Storage Guy.

Would love to see you work one day (That sounds weirder than it is :P)

Huge congratulations, Dino!

Will you be getting a chance to view the final product of your art piece in LA? Depending on what you were shooting, exactly, I think that "purpose built" 4K projection of a real 4K image should be really a sight to behold for many.

Fly safe!
