  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC lenses

Epic could get around a full frame 35 mm CMOS sensor (35.8 x 23.9mm)

that means all type of full frame photo still and the most of cine lenses should fit in 5K.

Crop factor still photo lenses from Nikon, Canon, etc...

... and all types of cine lenses should work fine with 4K size and below.

S16 could work fine the same as with RED Mysterium at 2K.

So you could still remain as a Nikon, Canon, Leica or Contax boy with it :) .

Master Prime boys for sure will be the fastest but still not as fast as Noctilux boys at 50 mm wide open :) .

Always there is the fastest car in every race :) .

Because Arri primes are sharper and faster?

RED primes are the same as most Ultra Primes at T1.9. We have only seen a couple test images so far, RED primes look sharp. I suppose we'll see what happens when they ship. They look to be a great deal -- 1/3 the price of UP's.

In an ideal world where money was no object, I would already own the full set of Master Primes plus an LWZ-1. In my market, I can't justify buying MP's. In fact, I can't really justify UP's because I still need some lights and a new dolly and...

Very few clients even know what a Master Prime is or what it is good for. The occasional job that calls for them can be served by renting. So I'm salivating over those upcoming RED primes, I think they will fit my needs just perfectly -- as in I can afford them and if the 18-85 is any indication, I think the image quality will be excellent as well.

I'm glad someone else thinks I make sense.

BTW What's RojoMojo?

It's my new production company or business entity related video/film production, animation and FX services. I'm having a bit of trouble getting it off the ground though, it's been one thing after another. Legal fight over the domain name and trademark issues being just part of it. I'm hoping to go online with it all around the first of the new year.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I will be the first in line for Red Primes and the 18-85mm for the reasons you mentioned. In fact Red 300mm has been absolute delight for me. I simply answered that there is a market, need and reason for MPs and UPs. You know there is no such thing as too many good lens choices...

What are the specs and date for Red Primes?
Under $20,000 still, right?
