Wasn't there supposed to be some awesome app for the ipad that let you dial in looks to the epic? That sure would be incredibly useful.

Is that concept DOA? Is there a simple functional way to dial looks into the epic on set? Doing it in redcine isn't quite what the doctor ordered. That's nice on a prep day, but being on set right there and going - bing bang boom, would be preferable.

I think it is first to be released to work with the Meizler module and then migrated for general use. One of the issues is the communication between the iPad and the camera itself.

Yup its called RED SYNC... and its the least talked about HUGE innovation at Red imho. Game Changer - even old salty AC gonna have a hard time hating it.

I'm really excited to start using the Meizler Module and the iPad app. I am sure that they will be great tools.

Yeah, it would suck if you needed the Miezler. That's a whole lot of crap I don't need on the camera 99% of the time. Wifi is wifi right? Should just chat away ;-)

My info came in discussing it with Ted in a group gathering last week. Apparently the current app can monitor from the Meizler while you are shooting with no latency. There are lots of special features that require the Meizler capabilities. Once they release it for that, apparently they'll trim out the functions that can only be done on the Meizler and release a version for the camera itself. At least this is the way I understood it. (I don't want to blame it in Ted if I misunderstood.)

I really cannot wait for with app!!! I already have my iPad out on shoots anyways.

Forget live steaming without latency on an iPad. The device is just not made for that. It is buffering. Simple reason why it will never work without latency in video.

From WHAT I understood, REDsync is currently only available via Meizler.
Even if they showed it long ago (yes, I remember too), either the technology inside Epic is completely missing or unusable (see REDmote, it barely can keep up the connection to the Epic itself, now think even more data...).
