Would love some advice on the GRADE.. I can't speak about the movies plot/theme, and these I'm posting these to get an idea if I'm pushing the blacks a bit to much? These are stills from an EXTREMELY compressed version, so the noise is almost non existent in the uncompressed..

Thank you guys so much for any and all feedback good and bad!

Are you using any smoke in the bathroom scene? Looks good.

I would prefer if you had questions that you ask them here.. Not sure why everyone is sending private messages? It's filling up my pm box errgg

I can't really tell from these but it does seem like the blacks are a bit crushed for my taste, and I usually like good blacks in as many shots as possible. In music videos, commercials and such you can kinds get away with it, I'm not so sure it works for a feature. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks!! Exactly what I am looking for Mark.. I think it's a but much as well.. With the compression it really takes it to the extreme too..

Justin, just wondering, what's the girls first name?
Looks like someone who stared in my first film.

I think the blacks are a bit too crushed as well.

I also like the intent ... but I feel you need to find details to retain. For example in her top and his hair. It shouldn't be a black mass, rather there should be a sense of texture and shape.

The wideshot in the kitchen looks like a good reference point for th blacks. You can see into the shadows on that shot a bit more than the others.

In terms of color, then without direction on mood, then it's a bit tough to advise on which way to push it from a correction standpoint. Like music, it would be much different if it was a horror flick or a love story.

EPIC

EPIC

The blacks are definetely more crushed as we can see that there is not detail in the hair...Further on some shots HDRX could have been used to get details out of windows...(if the DP had wanted those details ie..)
