  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC frame rates...

16:9 numbers are about 20% less. These numbers are for EPIC-M and EPIC-X... not EPIC-S. These are continuous recording numbers. Battery will be used up a bit quicker when shooting high speed (as expected).

Awesome. We will shoot a Docu about about a Mountainbike-Race in summer. Actionscenes with 360 Frames? Awesome....

Thanks Jim!

Great frame rates... Red is setting the bar even higher once again!!

Dave

Just for reference, these are the frame rate specs for EPIC (all shown widescreen except 720P).

5k 2.40 = 120
4k 2.40 = 150
3k 2.40 = 200
2k 2.40 = 300
720P = 360

Jim

Is 2K still windowed on the Epic or is it scaled down?

Just updated the 1st post... QuadHD = 127fps.

No hard and fast numbers of how much quicker, I take it. Maybe someone who has an Epic M can put a percentage estimate on it. It would be useful to know in order to order sufficient batteries.

Great!!

Jim, Approx. how many stops we will lose at higher frame rates?

Doubling the frame rate is 1 stop light loss... unless you open the shutter. If you stay at a 180 degree shutter then 48fps is 1 stop, 96fps is 2 stops, etc. Same as any camera...

Jim

Thanks for the quadHD numbers! This is going to be so great. Gone are the days of trying to explain to the director why we need to change the lens or the camera distance for an overcrank shot. Much less ending up at 58fps when people are asking for 60 just 'cause you don't want to drop the res that low.

What compression rate is this? media?

p.s. good luck at NAB

Perfect... Just checking thanks!

How does that 720p 360fps work? Is that a sensor cropped further than is for 2K?

So if I rip off the air cooling heatsink (heatpipe as well?), and put a waterblook on, is there the ability to overclock these cameras and increase the bandwidth/processing to push the already amazing rates?

Can you overclock an Epic?
