I thought lets make a thread with feature request for future epic(-m) firmware. Just realistic things making the camera better, real user feedback improving (minor) things. Not stuff like 5k @ 300fps, but stuff that is possible.

I have a little list of things that would be nice:

- image flip on the touchscreen. For shooting 3D, it would be nice to flip the monitor horizontal so the epic which is mirrored by the mirror in the rig, can be flipped back and used for the AC for example. Also when you you turn around the 3d rig, it would be nice to flip the image without flipping the complete monitor and having upside down menu. so image flip would only apply to the picture and not the menu's.

- Grey out the area outside your marker area's. So when shooting 2:35 that is possible the grey out the area outside, like 25,50, and 100% options.

- Preview/program output options, sometimes you don't want to put the timecode and rec icon on a videoassist monitor, but your want your framing guides, maybe in the pogram menu a submenu with options would be nice.

- Embedded audio through the HD-SDI signal would also be nice

- An option for counting the SSD card further. Now when you insert a ssd card, in the format options menu, it suggest the next number of the SSD in the camera. But with multiple cards, this is not always the correct number. It would be nice if it just does +1 after every format without reading out the SSD information.

- When selecting a menu, like iso, or color balance, you scroll through the menu, it would also nice to just click on the value you want.

- Re-arrange the menu like you self want, maybe a third line on top as options, where you can assign your custom menu options?

Hope this is useful for the RED team and other also have good suggestions improving this great camera!

All of the ones mentioned are on our todo list except for scroll input which is
already there (double tap or hold for a few secs or up arrow on redmote).

For the SSDs, the camera remembers what the next one should be, it
doesn't look at the mag inserted. Or I'm not understanding what you
mean.

thanks for the reply deanan, glad you guys are working on it! I'll try the double tap, didn't think about that yet :)

You're understanding what I mean, but I'm quite sure our camera doesn't remember what the next SSD should be, but does a suggestion based on the inserted ssd. Because i remember to have to change the number everytime...we don't have to newest firmware from a few days ago, does that make a difference?

here's a couple things I've run into:
-Video out signal is only 23.98p vs Psf, I can't get my waveform up on my Panasonic 17" like I'm used to because of it.
-Genlock input accepts only a "p" signal, not a "Psf" signal like the Red One. It turns out that AJA's Gen10 puts out a very noisy "p" signal that confused our motion control rig.
Things I'm sure are being worked on:
-Redmote was far from functional, I'm sure future firmware will fix it but it was a no go on our job.
-video I/O (hopefully fixed by module): I need a clean, user definable output that is different from my tech output. I don't want my clients to see when my AC zooms in to check focus. He should be able to zoom in while we are rolling for that matter and see it just on his onboard monitor.

Can you email me your log file?

I'll email it tomorrow. What florian says is also a good idea. That the AC can zoom in and check focus, without that the hd sdi output is influenced by this.

- Also a nice feature would be a maybe what the canon dslr have, 5x zoom, 10x zoom. Now there's one magnify option, but one even closer would also be nice, this choosing in the menu, magnify 10x or 5x for example
- Also a peaking function like on a smallhd or tvlogic 5.6 monitor would be nice for focusing. Is this possible on the touch screen monitor?
- The output on the hd sdi when nothing is connected to touchscreen/evf port includes the menu options/histogram/media status. When the cam is mounted on a crane for example, this information would be nice for the dp operating, while keeping the touchscreen connected for the ac to change thing fast. So next to the program/preview a third option like "full evf/touchscreen info" would be a handy option.

More in the hardware department:
- a 7 inch touchscreen would be great, 5,6 is a little small sometimes
- a possibility to connect the evf and the touch screen at the same time. (maybe as simple as a port splitter?)

i'd like to see on the touchscreen menu....that you can back out of something one folder at a time instead of getting thrown back to the original start folder.....
so i go to settings, display, then go deeper...now i want to go back out one folder at a time instead of back to the settings root folder.

Zoom is already at 1:1 so that's at maximum magnification.

already there...only question is if its possible to assign exposure to one user button and peaking to another one.

When shooting 2K 300fps, zooming in 1:1 for focus resets frame rate and have to set back to 300fps.

Please fix (or advise if alternative),

That's a known bug getting fixed. (this thread is about feature suggestions though)

Thanks Deanan. I Understand.

Is pre-recording mode (say 2 seconds prior to hitting record) on 2K 300fps also already on the to-do list?

So with Epic will we be able to zoom in temporarily while recording? This would be fantastic and is sorely needed. In my 90 minute takes we can never check focus during the show and this would be a Godsend.

Would be great in a "future" assist output mode, not on preview nor program. It even could be on a touch screen an when the assist touches it it will zoom in, spotting the zone where the finger touches. Scrubbing with the finger would change the zoom spot.

- flip monitor to attach the monitor up side down.

- better menu navigation with second submenu row.

- force post-record before low power shut down to prevent lost of the shot.

-the multiple ssd format numbering don't work for me neither (on last released build).

- playback ;)

Can you elaborate on multiple ssd formatting? Not sure what you mean by that.
Auto increment?

Playback :) Please. :)

Then the Camera is perfect from me... I can live with everything else as it is.

5k up 120fps - 300fps is amazing! I just want to see it a second after I shoot it. When I'm hanging out of a chopper or flying down a freeway off a tracking vehicle or doing solo man shots all by myself.
A don't want to have to stop the circus, pullout a laptop insert SSD, turn on RSC to view it to see if I have the shot... or have to drag around a video assist guy everywhere...

I know, I know.. Broken record. Sorry guys. It's more important than you may think.

Thanks in advance RED TEAM.. :) Love ya work.
